DLPA2005: Communicating questions on wearable devices

Part Number: DLPA2005
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLCR230NPEVM, , DLPC3430

Hi sir,

A customer wants to confirm the feasibility of his design to use TI DLP products.

Customer is currently developing smart glass, he is planning to use TI products as a projector.

The configuration of the equipment is the same as the product type "DLPDLCR230NPEVM".

Minimize the size of smart glass in order not to make it more conspicuous,

a control unit of DLPA2005 and DLPC3430 is provided in a part different from the smart glass.

He wants to use wireless transmitting and receiving equipment to send electrical signals remotely.

Please see below for details.

Could you tell me if this configuration is possible for TI DLP product?

 Thanks.

  • Hi Frank,

This design does not seem very feasible.

The DLPA2005 would need to be on the same board as the DMD and optical engine, because of the high currents driving the RGB LEDs, and the Vbias,Vrst,Vofst of 18, -14, and 10 V respectivly, so you would require circuitry on the Rx board to generate these currents and voltages.

The sub LVDS interface going to the DMD is fast ~600 MHz, so you would need a multi channel high bandwidth Tx/Rx pair to transmit this data successfully.

I think the customer should consider a flex cable connecting the ASIC/PMIC board and optical engine. the sub LVDS can be sent over a flex cable up to 6 in.

    Regards,

    Arthur
