DLP4710EVM-LC: exposure time; splash image inquiry

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer have a few inquiries on DLP4710EVM-LC:

1.I set the exposure time to 5s in GUI , but the actual projection time is  is much shorter than 5s. Why?

2.I would like to ask whether splash Image can only store four pictures at most. I saw in the GUI guide that splash image can be modified, but I don't know where to find these files. Is there a more detailed example

3. I want to store some pictures in the projector, and then I can choose any one to project for a period of time in the software. However, I will store more than four pictures. Can I use splash Pattern mode in this way? Or should we use another patterns

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • Hi Art,

    1) For the pattern streaming mode there are a finite amount of sequences used. these sequences can be 'stretched' to fit the desired exposure time, but there is a limit to what this exposure time can be. please see this page from the universal FAQ for the exposure time limits https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/778576/faq-sequence-timings-for-dlpc347x-light-control-platform/2878269#2878269

2)In the EVM GUI if you go to Firmware -> update flash image you can update the firmware. you will need an input image(this should be the firmware image from the EVM product page on TI.com) and then you can select a file location for the output image. you can go through the steps(skipping those you don't want to change)

You will be limited to 4 splash screens, In theory there isn't an upper limit to the number of splash screens, But there is a limit of 4 because of the storage size of the flash IC on the EVM.

3)Splash pattern mode is the correct option here. you can also use internal pattern mode and store patterns this was, but you will be limited to 1 dimensional patterns.

    Regards,

    Arthur
