DLP4710EVM-LC: External Patterns

Hi TI,

It seems like that current DLP4710EVM-LC does not have parallel video input but HDMI. I searched online and some posts mentioned using FPGA to send out frames (2D patterns). Is there any link that you can show me how to do it?

Hi Derlin,

You can use External pattern streaming mode to stream 2D patterns by connecting a video source to the HDMI input. This mode can use the parallel input on the DLPC347x controllers.

Hi Lori,

Thanks for the reply.

I did use HDMI port and set 4710EVM-LC as 2nd monitor, however, when I project one image through c++ code, this image is repeatedly projected in 60hz, which is not desirable because camera will be triggered 60 time with same image (I need to project 46 images and have camera to capture 46 images only).

Hi Derlin,

Please try to use the Define pattern configuration settings in External Patterns page to define your desired setting for projecting the image. You can refer to the same FAQ link for instructions.

Hi Lori,

I understand that HDMI port can be used for external pattern, however, if I use OpenCV imshow to project the pattern, the pattern will be repeatedly displayed until next imshow.

Is there a way that I can feed in the image one by one automatically and only be projected once?

Hi Derlin,

Unfortunately, the EVM can not support this feature.

There is one way you can try to create a video frame with 46 images and adjust the desired exposer time if that can be the use case.

Sorry, we don't have a document which shows the instructions for creating a video with multiply images. You should be able to look it up with other sources.
