DLPLCRC410EVM: Loading image to DMD

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: DLPLCRC410EVM

Hi

Customer having issue with the EVM which they cannot load the image to DMD, please see details below.

"I am facing another issue with loading images onto the DMD. Basically when I am loading an image pattern(DLP logo) on the DMD , I cannot change it to other pattern by clearing the current image.

Also the mirrors keep on floating to on and off state with the Logo, and the red light starts to blink all of a sudden.

I am attaching some images for your reference.

Thank you in advance.

Maynard

  • Hello Maynard,

I need a little more information.  Since you have a logo that you are loading, I assume that you are using the GUI.  Typically this happens when the GUI thinks that the code is not loaded on the APPS_FPGA and attempts to load the code via USB.  If it is an older PROM then it will do this when you first start the GUI after the board has been powered up.

Which version of the GUI are you running?  Also please show what PROM version you are running.

This is the information on the PROM which is outlined in the red box in this crop of your board image:

Also Please try a different USB cable.  Occasionally we have seen issues with a bad cable.  In addition make sure that your power supply has a minimum of 5A capacity (6A is better).  It really only needs this during initialization of the board.  We have seen some issues with inferior supplies that have specs that are not real.  (i.e. claim 5A, but can only really do less than 4A)

  • Hi Fizix,

Just received response from customer, please see details below.

The PROM version is DLPR410A YVA 19/03

I am using the DLP 4100 discovery GUI to load the images. As per your advice I had made sure the USB 2.0b and the Power adaptor were as per the standards, which they were.
I had talked with a senior of my Lab who had experience with DMD and had helped me to load and clear images from the memory.
I now could not load a sequence of images into the DMD with a time delay between each image .
Let me know if there is a way to fix this problem .

  • Maynard,

Make sure the GUI is version 2.x.  Make sure in the GUI that you are switching to USB mode from Pattern Generator mode.  If you were able to load images, you should be able to load delays between images by adding delays in the script and moving them to where you want them to be in the script editor.
