DLPLCR65EVM: Inquiry

Part Number: DLPLCR65EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000, DLP5500, DLPC200, DLPC410

Hi,

Good Day. I have a customer who is working with DLPLCR65EVM. Please see below his query for your reference. Thank you very much.

I am a grad student looking to build a test bed for some microscopes using the Texas Instrument Digital Micromirror Devices.

We currently use a DLPLCR65EVM, I'd like to get another one of those.

We've also been modeling the response of your DLP7000 and DLP5500 for our purposes. But I don't see an equivalent EVM for the 5500, and the equivalent EVM for the 7000 seems to be out of stock.

I have lots of questions about what kind of control we would have by getting the full DMD and the controller separately (DLPC200 for the DLP5500, for example).

Are you able to tell me about the controllability of the 5500 and 7000 DMDs using your controller versus how we are able to control the 6500 as part of the EVM?

Basically looking to use the DMD as a spatial light modulator for a structured illumination microscope testbed, so we need to be able to load patterns onto the DMD firmware.

We are doing this with the 65EVM, but unsure how controlling the DMD works with the controller.

But basically we would like to control these other DMDs (7000 and 5500) with the same level of control as we get with the EVM.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray Vincent,

The EVMs are intended to help customers start their development process quickly, and to learn about the technology. The EVM for the DLP5500 has not been produced for quite a while, but yes, there is one for the DLP7000 chipset and they will be restocked this year.

If the customer has specific DLP6500 questions and requirements, we can certainly answer those and give feedback. The differences of the DLP6500+DLPC900A chipset vs. the DLPC410+DLP7000 chipsets are specified in the individual datasheets.

    Regards,

    Matt
