Hi

We have dlp pico projector kit v2 and try all possiblities for make it work.

When we connect with pc It only show start up screen  after that it does not show any thing.

640 x 480 resolution is MUST?

We have not try this because our system does not support this resolution.

We are trying on Windows 7(HDMI PORT) or on Windows XP(VGA PORT).

Please Let Us Know the Solution.

pratik

  • 640x480 IS a must. No other resolution will work.

    C.

  • Pratik,

It must be 640x480@60Hz. No other resolution will work.

  • Hi Curtis Newton

     Thanks for reply.

Driver is required for DLP PICO PROJECTOR?

Can we check Device detect or not on system?

  • HI Pascal

Driver required for DLP PICO PROJECTOR?

how to check projector detect or not?

    Regards,

    Pratik Kothari

  • Hello Pratik,

The Pico Kit v2 contains an EDID chip which reports to the computer its name and resolution and frame rate requirements (which is 640x480 @60Hz only). Therefore it should show up as a detected monitor. In Win XP you can right-click on an empty bit of your desktop and open "Display Properties". Click on the "Settings" tab and you should be able to see all of the monitors which the OS is currently seeing.

    Best regards,

    Pascal

  • Hello Sir,

We have try 640x480@60Hz on DVI port of Laptop but

    still it does not work.

Please let me know how to connect or let me know

How to confirm projector is working or not?

If you have any materiel of DLP Pico Kit then please

mail me on my id pratikcun@gmail.com

  • Patik,

Have you tried the HDMI output on another monitor to make sure that it is providing a signal?

Does the Pico Kit v2 show a splash screen when first powered up?

All that is required for video on the Pico Kit v2 is an HDMI/DVI-B video signal at 640x480@60Hz. Sometimes video cards have trouble going as low in resolution as this. Have you tried another source?

    Best regards,

    Pascal

  • Hello Sir,

         Thanks for reply.

We are trying multipls source like

Laptop which have DVI port or HDMI port and Computer which have DVI port

of graphics card but we are not able to make it work.

When we connect Pick Projector Kit it shows splash screen for

few second and after it get closed and led also off.

LED MUST BE STAY ON OR OFF when it does not work after splash

    screen showing?

    Regards,

    Pratik Kothari

  • Pratik,

The Pico Kit v2 LEDs will go off after the splash screen, if there is no video input detected.

You mention that you have tried multiple sources. Have you tried another HDMI cable? Are you using any adapters? Have you confirmed that they work with another monitor?

As I mentioned earlier, have you connected the source which you are attempting to drive the Pico Kit with to another monitor to make sure that the source is putting out a video signal?

After confirming that your source is capable of VGA 640x480@60Hz, that it is actually putting out a video signal, and that the cable is OK, then it may be a faulty Pico Kit. You should contact the distributor from which you purchased the Pico Kit and ask them to perhaps replace it.

    Pascal

  • Dear Sir

      Thanks for your reply.

Have you tried another HDMI cable?

NO.We have check cable Connection which is OK as per diagram given on net.

    Are you using any adapters?

NO Because we are using DVI or HDMI Port only.

Have you confirmed that they work with another monitor?

    NO

make sure that the source is putting out a video signal?

Yes,On Laptop we have try HDMI port which never use before so not sure about HDMI

But we are sure it is work fine because we have buy recently.

source is capable of VGA 640x480@60Hz?

    Yes Source is capable.

We will try all the option again and let you know.

    Pratik Kothari

  • Pratik,

    Any progress?

  • Hello,

We have try all possibilities but DLP Pico 2 does not work.

Can you tell us which OS Support.

We have try XP & Windows 7.

Can you suggest any Graphics Card which is Suitable?

    Regards,

    Pratik Kothari

  • Pratik,

I am sorry that you are having difficulty with the Pico Kit v2.

It does not matter what OS (Win, OSX, Linux) is used, as long as the video output mode can be set to 640x480@60Hz (VGA). For connection there must be either a HDMI, DVI-D to HDMI, or VGA-to-HDMI-D converter. Have you tried different sources?

The ability to go as low in resolution as 640x480 is getting more difficult with newer PCs and video graphics cards -- but it can usually be done. Sometimes you will need to dig a little deeper into the settings to find that resolution.

If you have access to a BeagleBoard or BeagleBoard xM, these single-board computers are well suited to driving the Pico Kit v2 via their HDMI output. Be aware that BeagleBoards require quite a bit of setup to get a Linux system running. This is not a trivial exercise.

Perhaps you have a defective Pico Kit v2. If you think that is the case, you should contact the distributor from which you bought it and see if you can get a replacement.

    Pascal

  • I've met the same problem with Pico Projector (recently purchased from DigiKey). I've tested on many PCs and laptops but the projector did not work. Since my PCs only have VGA interface, I've used either DVI-VGA adapter or HDMI-VGA adapter but no one works.

Please tell me how to do. Does the problem lie at adapters? Is DVI interface a MUST? Thanks.

  • Toan,

Yes - DVI is required to send video to the Pico Kit v2.

You mention that your PC has only VGA output, so you have tried using DVI-VGA and HDMI-VGA adapters - which don't work.May I ask if the adapters that you are trying are powered or unpowered? Are they quite inexpensive ($20 - $30)?

Many (nearly all) of the devices sold as VGA-to-DVI do not work. This is due to a very misunderstood part of the DVI spec. The DVI spec allows for an *analog* signal passthrough. These adapters simply pass the VGA analog signal through to pins on the DVI side. However, most (if not all) devices with DVI inputs are incapable of using the analog signals. They want the digital signals - which VGA does not supply.

There are legitimate VGA (analog) to DVI (digital) converters. They require an external power supply, and are rather expensive ($100+). These do work- allowing a PC with only a VGA output to send a video signal to a Pico Kit v2 via DVI. It is also absolutely necessary to set the video to 640x480@60Hz.

So, you must use a DVI or HDMI out port from the PC, or a proper analog-to-digital VGA-to-DVI converter (with a DVI to HDMI mini plug converter).

Please try this, and it should work.

    Best regards,

    Pascal

  • Can you please tell me a proper analog-to-digital VGA-to-DVI converter to buy in this case? Thanks.

  • I used this VGA-DVI adapter:  http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180458450919&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:US:1123

    and this VGA-HDMI adapter:  http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-VGA-HD15-Male-Cable/dp/B001OLCHJ6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1311631412&sr=1-1

Can you please tell me a proper analog-to-digital VGA-DVI adapter for Pico projector?

    Thanks.

  • Toan,

I have used one similar to this one: http://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/VGA-HD-with-Audio-to-HDMI-Format-Converter~VGAHD2HDMI

Also see: http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-VGA-to-HDMI-Scaler-Converter-USB-Powered.html (I have not tried this one).

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Pascal,

Thanks a lot for useful information. But the two adapters you said are so expensive. I am considering to purchase a DVI card instead? Can you please recommend me some DVI card for laptop/PC that will work with Pico? Thank you.

    Toan.

  • Toan,

I looked at the links which you posted for the VGA-to-HDMI converters which you tried. Like I suspected, those are the ones which will not work - they do not convert the analog VGA to digital HDMI. I really don't know of anything that works with these converters, except perhaps some older monitors. I haven't seen anything that works with them.

The converter boxes which I gave links to do work - but they are expensive.

I'm sorry, but I don't know of any DVI cards (ExpressCard) to recommend. I have not used any of these.

    Best regards,

    Pascal
