4000 FPS using DMD

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP7000

Hello, thanks for helping if you can.

I am working on a individual research project apart from my degree so my knowledge of engineering is limited.

I need help creating high frame rates (4000fps) where the frames joined together create a 3D object like a 3 printed object but not 3 d printed.

similar to perspecta volumetric display and similar techniques to the Dynaflash on the internet.

info on this topic is limited. So any help would be great.

1.what I want to achieve end result:

I want to create a full coloured volumetric display using DLP technology. So audiences can view a 3D object at any angle.

I know how to do everything else except increase fps for projection via controllers and 3DLP DMD chipsets to 4000 fps or higher.

Thank you

  • Hello Tim,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

Are you using any specific DLP chispset or need help on selecting the DMD?

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Hi Akhil,

Thank you very much for your quick reply to my question. Much appreciated!

There is no specific DMD as I have not bought one yet, but I had a look on the website…

    DLP7000

    DLP® 0.7 XGA 2xLVDS Type-A DMD.

I could not find the one I was thinking of which Is a 3 DLP system that runs about 4000 fps. I am assuming this is in RGB colour format because of the 3DLP set up.

I am guessing I would need to purchase 3 DLP 7000 DMD’s to create colour and not be in grey scale setting each to Red, Green and Blue

    or find the 3DLP chipset.

    Thanks again,Tim

PS. Cost is not an issue as I will get funding if I succeed.

  • Hello Tim,

Could you please help with the following questions:

    1. 4000 fps - What is bit depth for each frame? Is it 4000 color frames or 4000 distributed among R, G and B?

    2. Is resolution  care-about?

    3. Optical engine /housing - Are you make your own custom optics  or will use a traditional   projection optical engine?

This will help me propose appropriate options for your application.

    regards,

    Vivek
