DLPC900: About DLPC900 Pattern Display LUT Reorder Configuration Command with USB communication

Hello!

I have a DLPC900 with USB communication and I use it in pattern on the fly mode.

When I use the command 0x1A32 (as in 2.4.4.3.4, page 71 of the programmer's manual rev G) to reorder the Pattern LUT I get the following error: "Invalid command number : 0x1A32"

Here are the software revisions as read from the controller:

Application software revision: 2.0.0
API software revision: 4.1.101
Software configuration revision: 68.33.0
Sequencer configuration revision: 68.33.256

Hardware Configuration and Firmware Tag: DLPR900PROM-6500-v2.0.0ault

Is my firmware too old for this command?

Moreover, in table A-2 at page 90 of revision G of the programmers manual, "Pattern LUT Reorder Configuration" and "Pattern LUT Definition" are both listed with the same USB command: 0x1A34.

Marco,

The USB command number on page 71 of 0x1A32 is correct, but this command was first introduced in firmware 5.0.0 and requires version 5.x or better to be run.

Also thank you for the great catch on the error in table A-2 on page 90. I will roll it into the next revision.

Hi!

I am just now trying to update the firmware as you kindly suggested but I find the instructions on this topic a bit unclear in the manual.

The following picture shows how far I have got:

Can you please confirm that using the button at the end of the green arrow to upload the shown disk image is the correct procedure to update the DLPC900 firmware from 2.0.0 to 6.0.0?

I am worried that is gonna be hard to undo potential errors on my part.

Marco,

That would be the correct button, but I do not know if you can update from 2.0.0 directly all the way up to 6.0.0.

If it does not work, you will have to follow the JTAG programming procedure outlined in the EVM Guides.

Please see DLPU101 [https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu101b/dlpu101b.pdf] section 3.11 JTAG Flash Programming. You will need to obtain and wire the JTAG-USB FTDI bridge listed if the USB programming does not work.
