DLP4710EVM-LC: HDMI display

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC

Dear Sir,

I'm using the DLP4710EVM-LC and once it power up, it default Tirgger mode (by Trigger IN) and display the internal pattern. I can use GUI to switch to the "external video source" so it can accept the HDMI signal (1920x1080 and 60Hz). But how can I set it default HDMI detection so I dont' need to connect to GUI every time when I power up the EVM ?

Thanks!

Vincent

  • Hello Vincent,

Do you want the EVM to change into external video port (under the display tab?), or do you want to boot into external pattern mode under the light control tab? Both will take the input from the HDMI cable but I need to confirm what mode you want.

    Regards,

    John

  • Dear John,

THanks for reply first. My purpose is once the EVM bootup and it goes to wait for HDMI signal to display and I don't need the GUI to switch again.

For your mention above, the display tab or light control tab are all on GUI, right ?

By the way, what's the difference between the "switch to external video"  and "external pattern" Sorry I can't found the detail user menu for this EVM

    Thanks!

  • Hello Vincent,

What version of the FW do you have? I have tested on FW ver. 1.1.1 and 8.1.0. When an HDMI cable is plugged into the EVM while in standby mode and then the on/off button is pushed it should display the HDMI input. You should not need the GUI for that.

The Display and Light Control section are in the GUI.

This is the EVM GUI Guide, here.

    Regards,

    John

  • Dear John,

The INfo I get from GUI:

    EVM Software : 4.4.0

    EVM Firmware : 8.1.0

    GUI Software 3.1.06

Sorry, I can't get the pros and cons (or trade off) for using "external video source" and "external video patterns" is it only tradeoff on display speed ?

    Thanks!

  • Hello Vincent,

External video source is just a normal HDMI display. You can treat the EVM like a second monitor screen connected to your PC.

External pattern mode is for light control applications. This is monochromatic, very precise pattern recreation, and can be synced with external triggers.

Are you just looking for normal HDMI like you would for a second monitor or do you need it for light control applications?

If you need the EVM to display normal color content like a second display, the EVM should switch to displaying content once the HDMI cable is connected from your PC.

    Regards,

    John

  • Dear John,

Thanks a lot for detail explanation. So the difference mainly on if we need light control application. Yes, we need to have Trigger in (to control display start) and Trigger out (to trigger camera). I'll study how to control the external pattern.

    Thanks!
