DLPDLCR230NPEVM: Crash and reboot after short display of test image

Part Number: DLPDLCR230NPEVM

Hi,

I am trying to use the DLPDLCR230NPEVM with a Raspberry Pi 3B+. But for now, I am having troubles even when disconnecting the RPi.

Initially, the DLP worked just fine in the solo setup, booted, and showed a test image followed by the rainbow screen. Now, when applying power, the test images just flickers on periodically, and the D_DONE is on and off intermittently as well. Between these two states, I connected the RPi3B+ as suggested in the manual.

On a side note, I am using a custom power supply. This worked just fine before, also the voltage seems to be high enough as indicated by a multimeter.

kind regards,
Paul

  • Hello Paul,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology!

If the DLPDLCR230NPEVM is not able to maintain the splash and test pattern screens, we will need to debug this before connecting the Raspberry Pi. Given that D_DONE is cycling, it appears that the FPGA is repeatedly initializing. What is the status of D_HOST_IRQ?

The custom power supply may be playing a part in this issue. You mention that the voltage should be high enough. Are you able to capture a scope plot of the power supply? It would be worth ensuring that the voltage does not exceed or drop below the required range. Additionally, what current does the supply support?

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Hi Austin,

I swapped the PS for a "less custom" one and may Need to alter it later anyways. So no reason to waste your time for now Slight smile

But thanks anyways! You can mark this as solved.
