DLPC900: No heartbeat on the primary DLPC900 on a Dual-DLPC900 EVM board

Part Number: DLPC900

Hello, we have encountered the following problem with our DLP LightCrafter Dual DLPC900 Evaluation Module.

When the board powers up, the heartbeat LED associated with the primary DLPC900 chip does not flash. The EVM board does not respond over USB.

The issue persists through power cycles.

Using the FlashProgrammer.exe executable provided in the reference software, we can write and read the bootloader successfully (and verify it), so it looks like the bootloader is intact, and yet the DLPC900 does not power up correctly.

During one of the many attempts to re-flash the bootloader, when we removed the J11 connector and jumpers before rebooting, the secondary DLPC900 chip also lost its heartbeat. We hoped this implies that the initial DLPC900 without a heartbeat may not be physically damaged, and there might still be some bootloader problem we can solve over JTAG.

Thanks in advance for your advice,

  • Hello Christian,

Were you able to use the JTAG to get the secondary heartbeat back by reprogramming it.

It sounds like you have gone through the full process of doing an erase and then reprogram.

What version of the GUI software are you using the JTAG programmer from?  If you have GUI that you previously successfully loaded a firmware from, then please save a backup copy of the FlashDeviceParameters.txt in the directory you are using JTAG from and then copy the same file from the DLPC900REF-GUI\Flash\ directory of the GUI that was previously successful and try it again.

One additional item to try.  Try doing the erase 2 times for each controller before writing the files.

Please report if it was successful or not.
