DLPC3430: DLPC3430 to drive DLP2010

Dear team,

Customer is using DLP2010 to design a AR project. The question is how about the flash size is needed to use DPLC3430 to drive DLP2010? The resolution is 640*480, if the input DSI 1lane can meet the demand.

1.) How big is the FW image needed for the DLPC3430?

2.) Can 1 lane DSI handle a 640 x 480 resolution?

Hi John，

We designed the DLP project for the first time. We don't know how big FLASH capacity we need and how big FW image. Would you like to recommend a FLASH capacity that can meet the requirements?

Whether the DLP3430 DSI input interface, 1lane clock and 1lane data can support the DLP3430 to drive the DLP2010 to work normally.

Hello William,

The current firmware image on the TI Firmware Selector Tool is 1,685 KB. In addition to meeting this size capacity, the DLPC3430 Datasheet details SPI Flash requirements in Section 7.3.3.

I would also encourage the verification that the device pinout and voltage ratings (also mentioned in the datasheet be met.

Regarding the DLPC3430's ability to process 640*480 resolution on a single DSI data and clock lane, this is possible. The DSI Setup and Debugging Guide in the E2E FAQ contains example timings for 854x480 resolution over a single data lane. This may be limited if the plan is to use a frame rate exceeding 60 Hz.

Hello Ke,

The DLPC3430 can only control one DMD. This would not be possible.

Hi John,

We didn't use it Parallel Port Input ，Whether all pin of Parallel Port Input is left unconnected ？we only use DSI input。

Can you give me a reference design of DLP3430+DLPA2000 driving DLP2010? We can compare our design to see if there are any errors.

Hi Ke,

The following is taken from Section 5.2 of the DLPC3430 Datasheet:

"(2) Connect unused inputs to ground or pulldown to ground through an external resistor (8 kΩ or less)."

Please see TIDA-00325 as a reference design. This is a design with the DLPA2005. Though we do not have a DLPA2000 reference design, this is comparable.
