DLPC120-Q1: DLPC120 Automotive Control Program & White balance calibration

I am Andrew Chen from Wuhan Jingce Electronic Group Co.,Ltd. We are a  supplier of testing instruments and solutions on optical and display field. we have sold many colorimeters to our customers.  The EYE2 Color Analyzer is one of our star product and have sold thousands of units in China. Many customers have purchased our EYE2 product replace the CA410 manufactured by Konica Minolta.

Some of our customers are HUD manufacturers for Vehicles. they have purchased both the DLP 3030  chips and our EYE2 Color Analyzer. For HUD product, they need to debug the light source or called white balance calibration of light source. This work will use a software called  DLPC120 Automotive Control Program released by TI, They don't have a CA210(or CA310 & CA410) to do this work.

As I konw, The CA210/310/410 is the only hardware that supported by DLP120, If TI can add our EYE2 to the supporting hardware list?

Last year we have sold more than 2000 set of EYE2 Color Analyzer and that almost half of the sales volume of CA410 in China mainland market.  Our EYE2 is similar to CA410 in precision & performance. they are a pair of competive products in market.

I wonder if TI can add our EYE2 to the supporting list? So our customers can do white balcance calibration. if we provide the SDK, software drivers & communicate protocol, would you please add our EYE2 to the  DLPC120, or we can follow the way with CA210.

  • Hello Andrew,

Welcome to the E2E forum. Thank you for your business!

Our team will discuss and get back to you.

    Best,

    Maxine

  • Hello Maxine, thanks for your quickly response. I have issued this case to your colleagues in China about half month ago and they also delivered it to America colleagues but still no feedback. Hoping to get your message soon and It's really appreciate to you.

  • Hello Andrew,

We are glad to be of assistance. Please allow us the end of next week to investigate.

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Hi Andrew,

I spoke with several regional TI field applications engineers located and working in China the other day and they have not heard of any customers looking to use the EYE2 Color Analyzer. Without any immediate customer draw, we will not be adding the EYE2 on the supporting list of the DLPC120 Automotive Control Program at this time.

If there is significant customer draw in the future, we will be open to working with Wuhan Jingce Electronic Group Co.,Ltd to incorporate the EYE2 into the DLPC120 Automotive Control Program.

Thank you for reaching out and appreciate your time.

    Thanks,

    Alex Chan

  • Hi Alexander,  None of any HUD manufacturer have purchased our EYE2 Color Analyzer, and this is the reason and not the result. We have build a deep business cooperation with some leader suppliers of tier 1 like Foryou Corporation & Desay CV Corportion. They have purchased EYE2 for car monitor but not for DLP HUD is just the DLPC 120 software didn't support and they have no choice but to purchase CA410 that the only devices supported by TI. We are now cooperate with a start-up company called Raythink with HUD manufacturing and DLP light debug. They hope us can solve this problem in advance and they will put into production in three month. What can we do to make you change your mind to add our EYE2 to the supporting list? or if our customer issue this case to you, will you do this job?thaks for your kindly reply.

  • Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your response and I understand your position.

Yes if customers bring up this issue strongly to us or relay this to our China Field Application Engineers, then we can look into this issue like I mentioned before. I have just never heard of any customers bringing this up and I have not been aware of this.

Additionally if you are able to provide an EYE2 Color Analyzer for us to use to help get implemented into the DLPC120 Control Program, that would also be helpful as these tools are expensive to acquire. Do you have any data sheet or documents or user guide about the EYE2 Color Analyzer, it is hard for me to find anything online using a Google search.

Thank you for reaching out and appreciate your time.

    Thanks,

    Alex Chan
