DLP650LNIR: thermal simulation

Part Number: DLP650LNIR

Hi Team,

A customer has the thermal simulation issue on the application report.
Please confirm the following content for more details.
-------------------------------------------
I am using DLP 650LNIR with a pulsed laser and have been reading this report about thermal.
www.ti.com/.../dlpa027
I don't understand the left inset figure of Figure 6.
Why does the temperature drop once and then rise again after the laser pulse is shut off?
If I am not wrong, I think it will be the fig4 in the following report.
www.liebertpub.com/.../3dp.2020.0023
And also, if it is possible, could you give me a sample code of this simulation?
-------------------------------------------

Thank you for your clarification in advance.

Best regards,
Frank

  • Hi Frank,

Thank you for contacting E2E support. An expert from our team that is familiar with this topic will get back to you shortly.

  • Hello Frank,

You are correct.  The mirror temperature should not increase between pulses when the power is off.  Figure 6 in DLPA027 is not correct.  It should look more like a sawtooth as you point out.  We are currently working on an updated applications note covering the transient thermal response of the DMD with pulsed lasers.  This should be available in the middle of 2023.
