DLPC6540: replace splash images

Hi,

We are doing a project where we are using DLPC6540 in the solution DLPDLCR471TPEVM. We want to replace the default splash images in flash memory, by adding 10 new splash images to flash by UART or I2C interface. We don't want to replace the whole flash image by updating the flash firmware, we want to replace the splash images only. And then be able to toggle between them via UART or I2C to project. Is this possible to do?

I'm also intrested to know how the splash images are placed in flash memory, do you have a layout for this?

Hello Pauline,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology!

While there is a Splash Capture command (see table 19-17 of the DLPC6540 Software Programmer's Guide), this command will capture an image that is currently being displayed via the V-by-One video input. There is not command to directly write a splash image to the flash via I2C or UART.

Please allow us until the end of the week to look into the flash memory layout.

We are looking into the feasibility of the flash memory layout, though it is not looking likely that we will be able to provide this information.

Can you speak on why you would like the layout?

As Austin has confirmed, we do no support any commands for changing the splash images

What is it that you want to achieve and for what application with the help of flash memory layout. We can help you on it and let you know if the flash memory layout is really needed or not.

Hi,

What we would like to do specifically, is to upload a set of (few) static images to the flash memory and change between them using splash screen change command. We would also like to be able to replace individual images in the flash memory without affecting other images and/or firmware.
The purpose is to avoid the need for video signal input (since images are always static).

Unfortunately we do not support the feature to change the splash images in the flash.
