DLPLCR95UVEVM: Can this module take grey scale images or is it limited to one bit?

Part Number: DLPLCR95UVEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC410, DLPLCRC410EVM

I have a DLPLCR95UVEVM and have been using it for a while but only with one bit, black and white images. How do I project grey scale, 8 bit images? Do I need to purchase a software upgrade upgrade or is the driver board incompatible?

  • Hello Bryan,

This is a function of the controller that the device is paired with, the DLPC410 in this case.

The DLPC410 is a a binary controller.  If you have someone who is adept at VHDL then it is possible to use the SODIMM memory socket on the DLPLCRC410EVM and instantiate a memory controller.  Then you would need to generate a sequence of "bit-planes" that will be shown for a specific period of time for each bit so that it will generate grayscale by Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)

You could also check to see what capabilities some of the ViALUX offerings have for this chip.

I am sending you a friend invite so we can discuss this further.

  • Dear Fizix,

So I need a new controller and most likely some software, Ok.

You have that for sale? if so great, let me know. Please send a link.

Vialux has some stuff for sale on that? Ok I will ask them.

AND, I do not know what a friend request is. i dont see anything. Friend in what system? Please assume I do not know what/how to use that.

  • Bryan,

I see you found the friend request because you accepted it.  I started a private message from that.

I would definitely talk to ViALUX to see if their system will meet your needs.
