Hi,

I purchased a DLP6500 DMD and it doesn't work recently. It worked properly before but suddenly the GUI can't controll the DMD board and the same pattern (shown in the 1st picture) was always shown even the DMD was powered off. I investigated some similar cases on the support forum and tried one solution of updating the fireware. I downloaded the new fireware "DLPR900PROM-6500-v6.1.0" and tried to upload on the GUI. It asked me to update the bootloader and showed the following message (as shown in the 2nd picture). I then cliked "Yes" to update bootloader then it gave the error information as shown in the las image.

Any idea what caused this problem and how should I shoot this trouble?

Hello Yuanyuan,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

I would recommend to install the Boothold jumper(J11, See page 12 in Single DLPC900 EVM user guide) and program the flash image. Please try the OOB image(provided with the installation package) first.

Hi Aishwarya,

Thank you very much for your reply. I tried installing the Boothold and uploaded the "dlp6500_6.1.0_OOB.img" to the fireware. This time it uploaded successfully. I posted one screen shoot here to make sure I did it correctly. Could you tell me what I should do next ? Right now I can still see the old pattern on the DMD chip. And I don't know how to make the DMD work again.

Hello Yuanyuan,

After programming did you power down and remove the HOLDboot jumper and restart the system? Let us know if it works after that.

Hi Fizix,

I power off and removed the Holdboot then power on again. The pattern was still there and the GUI can not enter the pattern-on-the-fly mode. The DMD doesn't respond still.

In the GUI does it show the system in standby? Is the DMD/Controller incompatible flag checked?

When was this kit purchased?

For these questions please refer to the DLP® LightCrafter Single DLPC900
Evaluation Module (EVM) User's Guide -- This would be DLP101B [https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/dlpu101]

Is the heartbeat LED blinking? This would be D6 on page 11 section 1.5 DLP LightCrafter Single DLPC900 Connections
Are D8 & D9 green? 12V and PWRGOOD.
Is D5 off or lit red? Red means a fault has occurred on the board.

This will help determine the next steps.
