Where exactly are you reading that the frame rate of the EVM is 60 Hz? I am not sure if what you mentioned is for the monitor or reporting from the EVM itself.

moving the mouse around on screen seems to be 60 fps

I attempted to record a 240fps video of the screen, and movements seem to not be every frame.

A clue may be in the fact that my output of vcgencmd get_lcd_info is: 960 540 24, which indicates bitdepth of 24 instead of 18. Which contradicts it being set to RGB666 in the script.

I've tried several iterations of config.txt, changing hdmi_timings, modes. Enabling the dtoverlay option for pi4 makes my screen only display the top left corner of a 1080p "display".

Really, I'm hoping for a magical config.txt and init_parallel_mode.py that will work, since I assume those are the only 2 factors at play.

Are you working with William? It would be ideal for us to be sure that we are addressing a single issue and not two at once.

You note an interesting observation regarding the 24 bit depth. Please try sending the following command through a Pi Python script and let us know if anything changes:

Summary = WriteExternalVideoSourceFormatSelect(ExternalVideoFormat.Rgb666)

Additionally, please issue the below command when attempting to stream at 240Hz and relay the information to us:

Summary, SequenceHeaderAttributes = ReadSequenceHeaderAttributes()
print(SequenceHeaderAttributes)

running sudo python3

Maybe that's the main issue?

I'd also like to add, I am using the provided TI software, which is dated back to 9/28/2020.

If there is a more updated version, maybe that is the cause of my issues.

Is that from the EVM product page? How long ago did you get this FW and support software?

Yep! I downloaded it roughly 2 weeks ago from here:

Just redownloaded it to verify, and it is definitely installing the support software from 2020.

I've tried that thread before with no luck, but it was all a blur of trial and error, so who knows.
I'll try that fix again and get back to you in a couple days.

In the meantime, maybe you can share with me a working raspiOS version for 240hz, as I had to install some non-standard libraries to enable GPIO strength control.
Maybe it all comes down to me just mirroring the exact setup that works.

It seems the latest User's guide doesn't provide a recommended OS for the Pi.

Could you please provide me with the OS you're successfully using for 240hz? I used my recommended image, I thought, but I had to make several modifications to control GPIO drive among other things, which I can only assume is one of the many things causing me issues.

I'll be working again on this this weekend, and will try a simple config and .py modification to start on a clean slate.
Do you have any recommendations on how to best determine whether my screen is correctly outputting 240hz?

Hello Daniel,

If you have the Raspberry Pi Imager, open it, go to choose OS, and the first one is usually what is used.

There seems to be commands that have had support dropped for them. It will most likely take trial and error to figure out how to get this working.

Sequence header attributes would be the best way to tell what the frame rate is. The format it is given in is not useful so it will have to be translated.
