Hi Xu,
Is distance between the projector and surface between 850-1150mm? This is the focal range of the DLP2021-Q1 EVM.
Can you also take a photo of the lens cavity at the front of the projector? It appears as though a lens is missing or has shifted. It should look like this, whereby a lens ring is glued on the exterior to keep optics in place:
Hi Akeem, many thanks for your reply.
Q: Is distance between the projector and surface between 850-1150mm?
A: Yes
Q: Can you also take a photo of the lens cavity at the front of the projector?
A: Maybe you are right. When I opened the box, I found a len and a black ring and I thought these two parts may be shaked out between shipping. And I just install the black ring firstly and the len secondly.
Hi Xu,
You will need to reverse the order of install for the two parts. The lens goes in first, then the black ring is used as a retainer to keep the lens in place.
OK, just check it again, what should I do next is just installing the len before the black ring . One more question, should I reverse the len ( convex outside currently)? Thanks
Hello Xu,
Our team will get back to answer your query within a couple of days.

Mayank
Hi Xu,
The lens should be convex facing in. You can see the optical specification and layout as part of the DLP2021LEWQ1EVM Optical Design and Overview download.
OK, thanks for your reply, so i not only need to reverse the order of installing len and ring but also reverse the len side. By the way, are the len and black ring of this EVM aparted from EVM in the Box before shipping to customers?
Hi Xu,
The lens and retaining ring should have been attached to the optical module. It seems that the three glue dots that adhere the retaining ring did not hold, or the amount of glue was not sufficient, which allowed for the parts to become separated. You can re-assemble the pieces to ensure the image quality is correct before gluing the retaining ring back on.
Hi Akeem,
Although you told me the method, I found it was very hard to get the len out today, I also bought a electronic sucker to try to get the len out. As mentioned in the third reply, they are seperated when I opened the box( It should be even harder to get the len out if it was assembled well and I had no reason to get the len out), can I return it back to ti.com? Hope to hear from you asap, thanks.
Regards,
Jeff XU
Hi Xu,
Considering the EVM was unintentionally dismantled after the assembly process during stock-up or shipping, you are welcome to return the EVM in exchange for a new unit. Refer to the TI Customer Returns page for instructions on completing the return process:
