DLPDLCR230NPEVM: Can DLPDLCR230NPEVM be brighter than DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 ?

Hi,

I have several questions about the two evm boards.

Q1: DLPDLCR230NPEVM can be increased to 350 lumens, in this case, DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 is only 300 lumens out-of-box, then which one is brighter?

Q2: What is the max lumens when replace the dlpa of DLPDLCR230NPEVM from dlpa2005 to dlpa3005?

Q3: DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 is 300 lumans out-of-box, what could be the max lumens with dlpa3005?

Q4: If I produced 10k evm boards, what are the prices for the two evm boards?

Hello Jeff,

1.) The User's Guide for the DLPDLCR230NPEVM doesn't list 350 lumens inside of the document.

2.) This is currently not a valid chipset combination and not tested with the OE for this EVM.

3.) This is a valid chipset combination but you would most likely change the LEDs to handle the higher current of the DLPA3005. TI has not tested this.

4.) This is the reference design page for the DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 here. This is the reference design for the DLPDLCR230NPEVM here. The BOMs are listed on these pages and there should be files for the PCBs that can help you get an estimate on price.

2, As DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2 replaced the DLPA in DLPDLCR3010EVM from 2005 to 3005, why not replaced the dlpa2005 to dlpa3005 in 230NPEVM?

3, I watched somewhere from vedios in ti.com, it said dlp could be very brighter. So if I want to make dlp brighter , just increase the current as well as the LEDs?

4, What does lumen out-of-box mean? Is it the biggest lumen for the evm or just a recommended bright?

Jeff,

The 230NPEVM was designed as a reference design for evaluation purpose to showcase how small the form factor capability and hence it is not capable of achieving the maximum specified brightness.

You can increase the lumen output (up to the range mentioned in the datasheet) by designing your own board (with DLPA3000) and contacting optical engine manufacturers with the help of https://www.ti.com/tool/DLP-OMM-SEARCH tool.
