DLP300S: Changing Throw Ratio for Anhua / eProtech / eViewTek Light Engines

Part Number: DLP300S

Hi!

I wonder if its possible to adjust the focus distance for these light engines (they seem to be based on a similar design) - especially a changed Throw Ratio would be of interest (so that the projected image gets smaller at a longer distance). That would be of interest because for a planned application a longer distance but still the smallest possible projection size would be required. Since the focusing optics is only screwed onto the light engine: are there alternatives to the standard projection lenses or is there an optical element that can be put infront of the existing projection optic in order to reduce the Throw Ratio?

Thanks in advance,

Dominik

  • Hello Dominik,

Welcome to DLP forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

The throw ratio is a design parameter for an optical engine.  If the optical engine has optical zoom, then the throw ratio can be changed in a specific range. The throw ratio cannot be changed if optical engine does not have zoom.

Please refer to the application note on "TI DLP® PicoTm System Design: Optical Module Specification" for details of terminology and specification for an optical engine.

Please use this application note to define the specification for the optical engine required for your application.  Once you have specification, you can use the DLP-OMM_SEARCH tool to identify optical engines available from our ecosystem partners.
