DLP4710EVM-LC: Cannot flash a startup batch file

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC

Dear sirs,

I'm trying to do a flash image update on a DLP4710EVM-LC eval kit in order to load a custom startup batch file, but is seems that there is an issue with the DLP-EVM-GUI 3.1.0.7 software.

Is there another way o doing this, perhaps using a command line utility or by writing a small program?

Kind regards.

  • Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology.

Unfortunately, we have noticed that there are known issues with the GUI of the Edit Firmware tool. We are currently debugging the issues and will have a newer version of the GUI to be released, but we don't yet have an expected date for the fix.

If you want to change the startup settings, then it requires the firmware update.

There is an alternative way to change the settings after powering up by using I2C commands, and you can find the details in the DLPC3479 Software Programmer's Guide. However, I'm not sure if that satisfies your application.

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Dear Lori

Thanks for your suggestion, unfortunately we need to set something (LED off) right at startup, and to follow your suggestion we will have an unwanted period with the LEDs on, before we are able to establish the communication and send commands over I2C.

Can you confirm if the issue is the generation of the new image bit file or is the flash upload process? In the former case, would it be possible to manually edit the image file? The section where the startup batch file is located is quite clear (offset 0x1a000 in the file), and the structure of commands too.

    Regards, marco

  • Hi Marco,

The issue is related to generation of new image file with auto-init file. We can not say it is entirely because of that. So, I would suggest to please wait for the next GUI release.

Also Could you please let us know how are you sure that batch file is located at 0x1a000 offset?

    Regards,

    Akhil
