DLPC3479: Abnormal picture in Internal patterns of Light control.

Part Number: DLPC3479
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4710LC

Hello,Ti engineer,

DMD is DLP4710LC, control chip 3479, using Light control Internal patterns mode,

Download 8-8bit stripe pictures, a total of 8, and set the exposure time within the following range:

The optical engine was assembled to verify the normal function of each picture, and it was tested for several days.

It is normal to test and verify the projection picture when assembling the optical engine on the equipment and trigger the camera to take pictures, which is also to run the test for several days.

Then the equipment went to another field test and found that there was a small chance that the projection screen was abnormal occasionally.

The following is a picture with abnormal picture, which triggered the camera to take pictures.

This projected picture is abnormal left and right, for example, DMD can't successfully load and display the downloaded striped picture.

Half of the projection screen is loaded to show half of a fringe pattern, and the other half of the projection screen is half of other fringe patterns.

(The other half doesn't know whether the DMD loaded the wrong image data or the DMD didn't refresh and load the new image data).
The probability of this occurrence is very low.

The fringe of this projected picture is abnormal, that is, the fringe lines of the same fringe pattern are uneven in brightness.

This kind of appearance is more likely.

Excuse me, what is the possible reason and how to eliminate or solve it?

  • Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology.

There are a few questions that can help us:

    1. How often is this occurring? Is it occurring once per cycle of patterns?
    2. Is it possible to share the image of the intended pattern that is being corrupted?
      • Download 8-8bit stripe pictures, a total of 8, and set the exposure time within the following range:

      1. Here you are highlighting a 1-bit exposure time though you appear to be sending an 8-bit image. Is this the case?
    3. How quickly does this error occur? Does it happen immediately or after some hours of running patterns?

    Kind regards,

    Austin

  • Hello Austin,

    The reply is as follows:
1.The probability of the first case is extremely low. In the second case, it is found that it may appear after running for a few minutes, and it may appear in once per cycle of patterns.
It happens randomly, sometimes one picture of a Set has problems, and some pictures of a set have problems.

2.Sorry, I can't share the picture, but it is roughly as follows, there are three kinds.

Sorry, the highlighted position in my picture is wrong. I actually used 8-bit image, and his time is still verified.

3.This error may occur within a few minutes after running.

    Thank you!

  • Hello User,

The team will need some time to look at the images used and investigate this behavior. Thank you for your patience.

    Regards,

    John

  • Hello Austin,

Ok, we suspect that it may not be the optical engine, but the camera, because there may be a trigger signal of interference, which is being investigated. Because the second case has a high probability.
    Thank you!

  • Hello User,

This may be. I had assumed that the image artifacts were visible to the eye. Are the artifacts only seen on the camera capture?

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Hello Austin,

The exposure time of pattern is too short, and it can only be seen by triggering the camera to take pictures.

We have initially ruled out the problem that the trigger signal is disturbed, and we are doing more tests and verifications.

    Thank you!
