DLPC350: DLP4500 M2A Projector

Part Number: DLPC350
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4500

Hello My Name is yoonju

I have some Question about DLPC350 & DMD I/F.

We developed the main board ourselves using the DLPC350.

1. After uploading the firmware to the DLPC350, it was confirmed that the heartbeat LED worked normally.

2. After connecting the DLP4500 M2A-RGB Projector Module, Through the LightCrafter 4500 Control Software 4.0.0 GUI, it was confirmed that the pattern was output from Project to Video Mode.

3. However, in Pattern Sequence Mode, if the pattern is displayed with the settings below, noise or pattern shaking occurs as in the attached video.

   File name : * Original pattern image.jpg
                      * Recorded video of actual displayed pattern
=> It does not come out as a gradation, but there are layers and each part trembles.

4. There is no such problem in Color Pattern of Video Mode, but we ask what the corresponding circle is and which side should be debugged.

I'd really appreciate it if you could give me an answer.

thank you

  • Hello Yoonju,

    Welcome to the E2E forum.

Is it possible to have a screenshot or attached of a standard video format of your intended image. We would like to avoid following unknown links if possible.

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Thank you so much for your reply.

We will upload the video normally.

    1. Original pattern Image

    2. No Noise Video Pattern

    3. GUI Configuration

    4. Noise Video Pattern

  • Hi Yoonju,

Thanks for your response and uploading the videos.

So is the color bar pattern and the black and white gradient pattern are they both loaded images into the flash or are they being displayed through the video port?

If you set the pattern source to flash on the far right you can pick the flash index of which image you want to display.

Can you also try setting your mode to just pattern setting at the top you are not using variable exposure settings.

Did you validate the sequence it should show seq running as well with the green light.

Do you mind sending me the white and black gradient image you are testing with, I can try loading it onto my EVM and seeing if I see any issues.

    Thanks,

    Alex Chan

  • Thanks for your reply.

    1. So is the color bar pattern and the black and white gradient pattern are they both loaded images into the flash or are they being displayed through the video port?

=>Answer : RGB Pattern and White & Black Pattern are identically printed patterns stored in Flash Memory.

                       1) RGB Pattern: Video Mode
                       2) White & Black: Pattern Sequence Mode

    2. I will try again like the screenshot you sent.

    3. We will deliver the Firmware Image of the DLPC350 currently in use. Excuse me, but I'd appreciate it if you could proceed with the test.

  • Hi Yoonju,

I will try out the firmware image you had sent and look into this issue more.

    Thanks,

    Alex Chan

  • Hello Yoonju,

I tried out the same settings you had used with the same image and did not notice any flickering on the white and black image.

I have attached an ini file.

    test1.ini

You can click the apply solution button to load the ini file and it should replicate the exact settings I have applied which should be the same as what you used. Then press send and it should give you the option to validate the sequence.

Please try out the ini file I sent or if your settings are different please click the "Save Solution" button and send me the ini file that is generated on your GUI and I can test it on my system.

One other thing you can try is if you use the default dlpc350 firmware https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPR350

    I used version 4.4

I tested the same GUI settings from test1.ini with white, bit depth of 8, and pattern exposure/period set to 1000000 and saw the following default TI image with no flicker. Can you confirm that with your system?

The only other thing I could see different is I am using a newer version of the GUI v4.4.1 which you can download and try. I do not think this is the issue but may just be one other thing to try.
