- HI Sir/Mam

- I have the product DLPDLCR471TPEVM and I tested it upon arrival ... the response of the EVM was normal and by that I mean a white Screen was projected out

- The current state is that there is no white screen projection happening or any other projection after connecting the power supply to 19v and switching it on

- The usb is not reading and the PC cannot feel it

- There are some leds on the upper board and there status is ... the PWRGOOD led is on , green and not blinking ... the POSENSE led is on , red and not blinking ... PROJ_ON led is on green and not blinking ... the Heart Beat led is on blue and not blinking

- Now I understand that I should :

Put the "HOLD IN BOOT" jumper across the 2 pins on the header, J9, and then power up. Then try to reload the original flash memory load file.
If these step does not resolve the issue then the next step would be to use JTAG using the "USB-to-JTAG cable.

- But I need detailed way (for dummies) for how to do these as I tried the first point But there were no response , And I'm afraid to make more damages

Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology.

When your EVM was initially turned on there should have been a DLP® splash screen. Was this the case or did your EVM only show a white screen as you describe above? Was there any event that caused the white screen to stop appearing?

Regarding re-flashing your unit, please try attaching power and then reflashing via the GUI without powering on the unit.

Hi Ahmed,

When you say there was no response when you put the "HOLD IN BOOT" jumper. Do you see the EVM connection status as connected in the EVM GUI and not able to communicate or were you not able to see the connection itself.

Below are the instructions to put the sytem in Bootloader mode using the BOOT_HOLD jumper J9.

1. Power off the EVM

2. Connect the BOOT_HOLD jumper J9 on the formatter board with controller

3. Connect the USB cable from your PC to EVM for communication with EVM GUI

4. Power on the EVM and check the Connection status in EVM GUI

5. If you are able to see the connection then try flashing with the latest firmware available on ti.com

Only if you are not able to communicate you might need to use the JTAG to program the bootloader(2nd step in your case).

thank you for your answer and clarification and for the question you asked I don't see any sign of connection in the EVM GUI

And excuse me For asking this , what controller do you mean in the point number 2 ?

- Thank you for your response I had already tried to connect my PC to the EVM before powering on the EVM and the PC didn't feel it at all

- And I didn't see splash screen , just white screen and then it had stopped appearing , that's why I then tried to connect the EVM with the HDMI cable

but nothing was projected

Hello Ahmed,

In step 2, Akhil was referring to the formatter board which has the DLPC6540 controller on the board.

Have you tried these steps that Akhil mentioned above and re-flashing the EVM with the latest firmware?

Are you able to see the splash image after power on? Are you able to see the GUI is connected with the EVM after tried these steps?

- I'm feeling so stupid right now , because I thought connecting the two ins means to short them together ... I thought that's a firmware restarting protocol (like factory settings protocol) , So the answer is No I didn't try the right steps and the GUI cannot connect to the EVM , I'm Sorry for wasting everyone's time

- If I may ask , Can I have the link for the formatter board ?

I'm So Sorry , but it took so long for the usb-jtag adaptor to arrive

- Now I had connected the usb-jtag adaptor to the Jtag pins (J20) on the board according to the schematic attached but the GUI still cannot feel the presence

of the projector and I couldn't update the firmware

- So , is there any Ideas that would Help ?

Can you describe what was done in how the JTAG connection was attempted? Was the board powered on in this case?

Hello Mr.Austin

- The Projector was powered But the ON/off button was off the first time I tried , And then I powered the button on hoping to get connection between the projector and the GUI but nothing happened

- I'm trying to upload these two images but I wasn't allowed to , this message appeared---> (The file or URL is not allowed to be inserted.)
