DLPC3479: The usage of "trigger out" and "trigger in"

Part Number: DLPC3479

HI,

I was wondering if I could ask some questions.

1.Does the "trigger out" and "trigger in" have output signals in video mode, or are these pins only used for light control mode?

2.In video mode, are there any pins that indicate the start or end of a frame?

  • Hello Zhixuan,

Welcome back to the E2E forums and we hope to assist you with your questions.

    1.

You can read more about triggers from the DLPC3479 datasheet in section 7.3.2 https://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/dlpc3479

Normally these triggers are only used in pattern mode and not video mode. Here is an overview from the datasheet.

    2.

Video mode uses a parallel interface and you can see a signal timing diagram in figure 6-7 from the datasheet and read about this in section 7.3.

  • HI Alex,

Thank you for your help.I still have some questions about patten mode.

1.What is the difference between Free Runing and  Internal Pattern Mode? I feel like it's one thing, and both are displayed from memory preloaded images.

2.What is the difference between Splash pattern and  Internal Pattern Mode?

3.Can I input videos to extern pattern mode? And How do I use extern pattern mode?

    Best,

    Zhou

  • Hello Zhou,

    Please see the following responses.

    1.

You can see the description for free running mode here, it is an alternative to the trigger in mode.

    2.

You can read the following from section 3.2.1 to see the difference between splash image and internal pattern.

    3.

Yes you can use hdmi to connect for example your laptop to the EVM to display video.

    Please see the following.

Here are the associated commands with external pattern streaming to look into more.
