DLP3010EVM-LC: DLP EVM GUI : RGB Internal pattern projection only projects B channel

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC

Hello everyone, Here is my configuration::

Here is a screenshot of the selected patterns:

RGB patterns are selected, but the projection is only occurring on the blue component, as can be seen in the following figure:

How can I solve this issue?

Additional information: RGB internal projection works with firmware version 8, but for this firmware, the projection fails with this firmware when I try to add a significant number of patterns (14).

  • Hello Nicolas,

    Welcome to the E2E forum.

Your exposure time appears to be beyond the maximum. Please try reducing your exposure time to be within the table below and let us know if this corrects your issue.

    Regards,
    Austin

  • I just tested a configuration that fits within the specified range for 8-bit RGB patterns :

Unfortunately, the observed issue persists; only the blue channel is projected :

i also made sure that each color works independently (R only, G only, B only).

  • Hello Nicolas,

Thank you for the information. We are looking into this issue and will get back to you within the next few days with our feedback.

    Maxine

  • Hello Nicolas,

Could you provide the images you are using as well as screenshots of your setup in the Pattern Sets, Pattern Set Order, and Pattern Control menus?

    Best,

    Maximus

  • Hello Maximus,
Here are the requested screenshots and you can find the pattern images on the following link : Pattern images link

    Best regards,
Thank you in advance for your help

  • Hi Nicolas,

Please give me some time to look into this and get back to you.

    Best,

    Maximus

  • Hello Nicolas,

I am able to replicate the same issue on my end with the latest firmware. For the meantime are you able to use firmware version 8.1.1 to test this?

    Best,

    Maximus

  • Hello Maximus,

I am glad you were able to replicate the same issue and look forward to an update. I was not able to find firmware version 8.1.1 online, but I do have version 8.0.0. However, I am not able to use the 8.0.0 firmware version. With this version and the same configuration described above, RGB 8-bit internal pattern projection works only for a few sets of patterns (only one pattern set in my experiments).

  • Hello Nicolas,

I have sent you a friend request to coordinate next steps, please accept.

    Thanks,

    Maximus

  • Hello Maximus,

The tests in version 8.1.1 did not work. An error occurs during the upload of patterns, suggesting a size limit that allows transferring only 6 pattern sets.
Additionally, even when the transfer is successful with fewer than 6 pattern sets, the display shows an unexpected BW binary pattern instead of my sinusoidal fringes :

  • Hello Nicolas,

How many patterns are you trying to upload when doing this? Please refer to the DLPC3478 Software Programmer's Guide Table 3-86 as to the maximum number of patterns per set you can upload. (screenshot attached).

As for what you are seeing when you upload fewer patterns, can you please upload screenshots of your setup in this instance? (patterns sets menu, pattern set order menu, etc). This would also be helpful if you could provide this for each pattern set. When I created the same pattern set you sent originally (pattern set V1_1 with img000) I was able to see the pattern properly.

    Maximus

  • Hello Maximus,

No here the limitation here is not on the number of patterns per set but on the number of sets of patterns.  The configuration is still the same than in my previous answer simply by repeating V1_1 configuration with V1_2,V1_3,...etc. More precisely, for V1_1 8bits vertical pattern set : 3 patterns of img000.bmp, for V1_2 vertical pattern set : 3 patterns of img001.bmp and so on. The same configuration is applied for H named sets of patterns only switched from Vertical to Horizontal patterns. The error message is suprising because with v9 firmware, i am able to successfully upload and project my 70 sets of patterns but only in R, G or B and not RGB. In v8 firmware, i am able to project only 1 set of pattern in RGB but it fails when trying to project  more sets of patterns. In v8.1.1, the upload part works only with a few sets of patterns (6 in my experiments) and the error message is displayed if trying to upload more sets. Even with let's say 5 sets of patterns that are successfully uploaded, the projection is wrong with this unexpected binary pattern.

    Nicolas

  • Hi Nicolas,

Thank you for clarifying that. I am able to reproduce the issue where only one pattern set projects but not the package size or single bit depth issue you are experiencing. I have also confirmed that these settings work with the newer firmware version albeit only in R, G, or B. Could you do your test in monochrome? I have reported the RGB issue for fw9.0.1 but do not have an answer on when it will be resolved.

    Best,

    Maximus

  • Hi Maximus,
Yes I am already doing my tests in monochrome and will wait for an update for the optimal RGB patterns for the final version of my prototype.

    Nicolas

  • Hi Nicolas,

In this case I will go ahead and close this thread out until we have a new version of the firmware released. Thank you for your understanding.

    Best,

    Maximus
