Light commander's LED Module and DMD and else

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC200

My Light commander can't  work.

And Logic PD is supporting me,and maybe I will send it to the Logic for fixing.

But I want to know about  following  question because  I want to confirm the action of parts before I send it as much as possible.

(Please tell me about normal Light commander.)

1.Can I confirm changing of DMD by visual observation?

2.If I disconnect the only J4(LED Light sorce) connector, will it work without light?(Work means DMD is chhanging)

3.If it does not work in clause 2,what is problem?(Does DLPC200 observe the state of LED Driver? )

4.Is there a method for use without LED?

  • Hello C_takahashi,

Welcome to the DLP section of the TI-E2E community.

Let me see if I can explain:

    1. You need to disable the LED's so that you can look into the LightCommander with the lens off -  This is why you disconnect J4.
    2. Then with the lens removed, turn on the LightCommander and look in the opening where the lens was and look at the DMD.
      1. If you can see a pattern or patterns (default is a checkerboard pattern) then the DMD is working.
      2. If not you will need to call Logic for an RMA (Return Authorization)

Could you help me to understand your question better, "4. Is there a method for use without LED?"

    I hope this helps.

  • Hello Fizix.

    Thank you for your reply.

    I see.

    I could understand.

I guessed DLPC200 observe the state of LED Driver.

Because when I disconnected the J4 ,I could not confirm the changing .

    But I was wrong.

So  "4.Is there a method for use without LED?"  does not have mean.

    It only disconnect the J4.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Takahashi,

Further,  the DLPC200 is designed for full operation without illumination module connected i.e., without LED driver connected. Having said you must understand that the LightCommander(TM) Control GUI software is not completely tested for LED Driver disconnected condition.

The DLPC200 API control software http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/dlpr200.html and http://www.ti.com/lit/an/dlpa014b/dlpa014b.pdf provides the APIs to determine the status; on query APIs related to LED status simply report the failure and this will NOT impact over ALL system operation. You can ignore these and use the system.
