DLP4710EVM-LC: Pattern Sets don't work fine

Hello TI,

I registered Pattern Set(1) : 1 picture and Pattern Set(2) : 3 pictures. And then, I'd projected total 4 pictures in a low by [Run Continuously]. Next, I tried Pause and Step regarding Pattern Set(2) that has 3 pictures. However,that can show only 1st picture of the 3 pictures and [step] doesn't work. In other words, Pattern Set(2) - 0 doesn't switch the next Pattern Set(2)-1 as shown the below drawing. (Only Pattern Set(2)-0 is displayed.)

Could you please try the reproduction or let me know your comment about this issue?

By the way, Pattern Set(1) : 2 or more pictures + Pattern Set(3) : 3 pictures work fine.

Hello,

I see you are currently using fw version 8.1.0. I would first suggest updating your firmware to the latest version (v8.1.1), which can be found on the TI DLP Pico FW Selector Tool. Additionally could you provide the test patterns you are trying to use?

I tried ver8.1.1, however it doesn't improve the problem.

Hello,

I noticed the patterns you sent me are actually 1-bit patterns. When you setup your pattern sets make sure to choose 1-bit horizontal rather than 8-bit horizontal.

I seem to have gotten each pattern to display by setting as 1-bit horizontal and swapping the order such that the pattern set with only one pattern is projected second. Can you try and see if this works on your end?

Hi,

I sent 1bit patterns to you because of distinguishing clearly. When we use even actual 8bit patterns, the problem occurs.

Yes, I was able to look at this problem on the EVM. If you could stop at Pattern Set(2) in [Run Continuously] that is the random selection of Pattern Set(1) or Pattern Set(2), you would not be able to see the next step patterns in Pattern Set(2). If you need more information of the reproduction, please let me know that.

Hello,

I am able to recreate the same issue on my end. Is it possible in your application to combine pattern set 1 and pattern set 2? In this case each pattern is displayed properly.

Hello,

I can avoid this issue by combinations of the other patterns. I would like to get TI's failure that the issue is the FW bug. If so, I'm going to convince it to my customer.

Hello Maximus,

How about the progress of the root cause investigation? My customers coincidentally found the latest firmware(v8.3.0) updated recently and it solved the issue. I'd like to know the notification to update the latest firmware. At least, I hope the introduction top page of the DLPC3479 inform the firmware update.(We are able to know only by the Pico Firmware Selector for now.)

Hello Uryyy,

I did not know this new firmware release solved this issue, thank you for informing me. Looking at the release notes under Updates in this release, mentioned is "BUG fix : In Internal Pattern display, patterns in pattern set are not advancing, only 1st pattern is shown", my assumption is this contributed to the root cause of the issue and has now been addressed. We recommend updating to the latest version of the firmware.
