DLPC900: HDMI Bridge

Part Number: DLPC900

Hello,

I am referring to the EVM of the dual DLPC900 and redesigning a driver board. I found that the I2C signal of DLPC900 is connected to the HDMI bridge (IT6535) and the EEPROM that stores the EDID. May I ask if I can use other small HDMI bridge to replace IT6535 to make the control board smaller in size?

Thanks!

  • Hello Sunny,

You can in fact provide your own HDMI --> RGB bridge, but you will need to provide your own way of programming the EDID of the HDMI you choose.  That is what the I2C is for. You will also need to provide the RGB signal with the same characteristics as the ITE 6535 receiver currently on the EVM.

  • Hello Fizix,

So,Do I still need to connect the I2C of DLPC900 to the new HDMI bridge?

  • Hello Sunny,

The I2C interface here is used by the DLPC900 to configure and send commands (including programming EDID, as Fizix highlighted) to ITE chip.

Unless you are planning to send I2C passthrough commands to your replacement chip through DLPC900, this connection is not required.

    Thank you,

    With regards,
    Aishwarya
