DLP5530PGUQ1EVM: DLP5530PGUQ1EVM

Part Number: DLP5530PGUQ1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3021LEQ1EVM, DLP5531LEQ1EVM

We have two projectors (DLP5530PGUQ1EVM and DLP3021LEQ1EVM) that have to be integrated in the headlights of a car and we need them to receive a video input by default. Right now they have the initial screen with the DLP logo and we have to switch them to external video source manually using the DLPC program, but when they are integrated this would no longer be possible, they would always have to be in external video source mode. How could we do this? Thank you very much for your support, best regards.

  • Hi Patricia,

Have you been given access to the DLPC230 Composer tool?  This tool would allow you to modify the project setting to default them to display mode at power up?  I granted you access to the mysecure page that will allow you to download the project and Composer tool.  You will need to open the project in the composer tool and change the settings.  See the image below.

Please note video must be stable and present at the time the DLPC230 is powered on, or it will determine that video is not valid and revert back to standby mode or test pattern generator mode.

  • Hi Jason, first of all thank you very much for your reply, in order to modify a DLP5531LEQ1EVM to suit our needs (use external video and have a set brightness on startup) we were given acces to the DLP composer tool and some proyects that could be used to modify its behaviour.

Sadly we have run into some problems where we seem to be unable to change the behaviour of the provided project from Heads up display to headlight in the composer tool, locking us out of the pwm control needed to set the startup brightness needed for our aplication.
We would like your help in either changing said behaviour to headlight mode in the composer or providing us with a project with said behaviour/setting baked in.

Apart from that, changing the Display on startup to the external video, no matter what resolution we choose, seems to brick the DLP, where it will not output anything on the optical end, completely turning it off, and uppon cheking the control programm, it will output an error message identical to the one it produces when trying to set up an incorrect resolution or source, and it doesnt let you change anything, as all buttons turn unresponsive, except fo the one to flash a new image.

In order to fix that, we need to generate another bin file with the DLP logo or checkers as the startup display option and upload it.

  • Patricia,

The DLPC230 requires that the input match exactly the expected timing parameters for that mode of operation.  For example, if they input source is 1152x576, the the VSYC, number of lines, number of pixel etc must match exactly.  The reason for this is to ensure that while driving corrupted data is not displayed that might glare the driver.

Can you verify the input timing matches to the mode?  And, also meets the timing requirements from the DLPC230 datasheet?

For the DLP5530PGU, I will send you a friend request and can provide you links to the composer project and tool.

    Thanks,

    Jason

  • Patricia,

I provided links to you for the SW.  Let me know if this addresses the issue after downloading the composer projects.

    Thanks,

    Jason
