Driver design for TALP 1000B

Sir,

For PWM based drive circuit what should be the initial frequency level of PWM wave, What should be the maximum level of frequency to operate TALP 1000B without failure?

With regards,

Jasna

  • Hi Jasna,

Could you provide a basic application description (use the mirror in a pointing or scanning mode) and a basic discription of your PWM drive circuit. These will help us better answer your frequency question.

    Regards,

    Arthur

  • Sir,

We have planned to operate the MEMS mirror in scanning mode. Please send me a graphical representation with mirror frequency (along X axis) and tilt angle(along Y axis). What will be the tilt angle of the mirror when it is operated in  3kHz-5Khz range?.

    With Regards,

    Jasna

  • Hi Jasna,

The plot of angle versus frequency is shown below. Data was collected out to 1000Hz and the lines have been extrapolated to higher frequency.

This mirror was designed as a large area, DC, pointing mirror and responds well to frequencies below 100Hz. Above 200Hz the chart above shows that the drive efficiency of the mirror falls off at 43 dB per decade.

If the mirror is driven with the maximum rated peak drive current in the 3-5 KHz frequency range, the mirror will move ~0.005 degrees which may not be enough to provide usable beam motion.

    Regards,

    Arthur
