DLP4500: About trigger_out2 setting on LightCragter4500

Part Number: DLP4500

Tool/software:

I am Miwa Kitakaze.

I have been considering using triggers for control, but now I don't know how to set up trigger out 2.

1. I understand that trigger 2 cannot be issued after the sequence is over, but only at the same time the sequence starts, is this correct?

2. I want to project my 19 images repeatedly, so I created a pattern sequence as shown in the figure below.
After this sequence is finished, I want to send a signal from trigger out 2 and then start the sequence again.
To do this, what should I do with the set values on the Trigger Setting screen? The settings in the second picture did not work as intended.

Best regards,

Miwa Kitakaze

  • Hello Miwa Kitakaze,

Welcome back to the E2E forums and we hope to assist you with your question.

Have you gotten your patterns to display with the trigger in signal?

Can you probe the trigger out signals 1 and 2 on your EVM after sending your pattern, you can access them on J14.

The Trigger Out 1 which is the exposure time of the pattern will be equivalent to the pattern exposure value that is set in the GUI.

The Trigger Out 2 indicates the start of the pattern sequence and will be equivalent to the pattern period value that is set in the GUI.

I tested this with an internal trigger in pattern mode using flash images and set my pattern exposure value to 15000 and pattern period to 20000. I then checked J14 and checked pin 2 for the Trigger Out 1 signal which had a pulse width of 15000 us (15ms) and then checked pin 5 for Trigger Out 2 signal which has a measurement of 20000 us (20ms) between pulses.

  • Dear Alex

    Thank you for your response.

I had already check that trigger_out1 and trigger_out2 are moving correctly.

My question is the values of "Tigger 2 out rising edge delay" and "Trigger pattern per pulse" on the trigger control window.

For example, please tell me the setting way in the below figure of your manuall.

    Best regards,

  • Hello Miwa Kitakaze,

For your first question about what to set trig_out 2 rising edge delay to, that is up to your application. This signal will delay when the light of the display shows up.

Below the purple signal is the trig out 2 signal and the green is a photodiode detector that measures the light output of the projector.

When I set the trig_out 2 rising edge delay to 0, the time is 300 microseconds.

When I set the trig_out 2 rising edge delay to max which is 7.29 microseconds, the time is now 308 microseconds.

For trigger pattern per pulse to match the figure you would set it to 4. This is saying that for every trig_out 2 signal there will be 4 pulses.

If you want to have 5 patterns for every Trig_out_2 signal, you would set the trigger pattern per pulse to 5.

The way it seemd to work for me is in the GUI first setup the trigger settings and press set, then create your pattern and then send, validate, and play the pattern sequence.
