DLPC4430: Dual Dual 60-bit pixel input

Part Number: DLPC4430

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

I have little confusion in the DLPC4430 part. How we need to give the 60 bit input. Also want to know each 30 bit are independent or not.

In the dual mode, can we provide 30 bit data from 2 different ICs? Can you please explain how it will work in Dual 60 Bit?

Please find the attached block diagram for reference.

  • Hello,

I am unsure why you would want to be sending data from 2 different ICs, the timing would be an issue as even trace lengths cause differences in timing.

The DLPC4430 depends on data to be sent to it through a 'Front-end' IC. Please see the below diagrams (found within the Software Programmer's Guide in the DLPC4430EVM-SW package release):

We utilize the IT6802 for this conversion but this chip only outputs 30-bit RGB data. The DLPC4430 controller can receive 60-bit RGB data through a combination of Ports 1 and 2 on the IC.

The datasheet states "Ports 1 and 2 can be used separately as two 30-bit ports, or can be combined into one 60-bit port (typically for high data rate sources) for transmission of two pixels per clock." This means that the image can be loaded in at a faster rate if the system expands the bus to 60 instead of 30-bits.

I was unable to find the THC64LVD1024 but the THC63LVD1024 seems to supply both Port 1 and 2. This would remove the need of an IT6802 IC. I hoipe this was helpful!

    Best,

    Aaron
