DLP3010EVM-LC: The DLP3010evm-lc is having problems cropping the projected image

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010

Tool/software:

Hello, engineer.

I am using "Display" in "advanced" mode to crop the projected image. I found that only the "test patterns" mode can be used to cut the projected images. You cannot crop the projected image in either splash images or Light Control modes. Why is that?

The projection pattern can only be cropped in the "test patterns" mode.

The "splash images" and "light control" modes do not support projection image cropping.

Why "splash images" and "light control" modes do not support projection image cropping, is my operation incorrect? Or does DLP not support cropping of projected images in either mode?

  • Hello Renzhen,

All display modes support this feature (TPG, Splash, External Video), however light control modes do not. This is because light control modes bypass all image processing to ensure pixel level accuracy for light control applications. If you are using the advanced mode please be sure to use the "write splash execute" command after changing these parameters while in splash mode.

    Best,

    Maximus

  • Hello Maximus Rusi,

    Thank you for your answer,
You mean that DLP can only project 1280*720 pixels in light control mode. There is no way to change the size of the projection in light control mode.

  • Hello Renzhen,

Yes, normally in light control mode, the resolution is fixed to the actual DMD resolution. The DLP3010 DMD has an active mirror array of 1280 mirrors x 720 mirrors.
