DLPLCR70EVM: DLPLCR70EVM float not actually floating

Part Number: DLPLCR70EVM

Tool/software:

I am using DLPLCR70EVM with DLPLCR410EVM. I just started using it and tested the DMD with the 4100 Explorer GUI test patterns and some random images I loaded. However, I noticed when I went to turn everything off that the "float" stage isn't really floating. At first glance it looks fine, but at an angle, you can see some of the DMD mirrors aren't fully floating and instead are kind of stuck in a configuration that looks like one of the images I loaded earlier. I tried reset/clear + float commands in the GUI and then I manually pushed the SW3 float switch. However, nothing I do changes anything, the "floating" DMD looks like some of the pixels which were rotated earlier are no longer returning to 0 degrees and are instead stuck at a slight angle. Does anyone have any recommendations for this? I only used the DMD for an hour, so I am unsure why it is already stuck ...

  • Hello again Viviana,

There is no issue here.  As you operate the mirrors they get a slight bit of torqueing.  Once you resume operation they pixels should operate normally

Be sure when shutting the system down to properly park the mirrors to prevent stuck pixels.  Stuck pixels will be very obvious.

Also you can set a batch file that runs on/off repeatedly as fast as the software allows.  When not actively showing images for your system, run said batch file.

In a projection system this slight torqueing will not be seen in the image.
