DLPC3479: External Video Mode

Part Number: DLPC3479
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP4710LC, , DLPA3005

Tool/software:

Hello!

I use a self-made board, the hardware structure is dlp4710lc + dlpc3479 + dlpa3005.

When the Display - External Video Mode is used (05 register is set to 00), RGB888 mode (07 register is set to 43), and the external input is 1280*800@60hz,
Does DLPC4710LC display R[7:0], G[7:0], B[7:0] in sequence? Or some other order?
What is the exposure time for each 8-bit graphic? What is the dark time?
Is the exposure time and dark time the same for each 8-bit graphic?

Please help to analyze the reason, thank you very much!

  • Hello,

Thanks for reaching out through E2E again!

In External Video Mode, the DLPC3479 controller has preset controls of the LED duty cycles and sequences for what color and bit planes are displayed and when. These things are all aspects of a 'Look' which is selectable as the 'Color Temperature'.

I do not have these details for each look as they are set. It is crucial that LEDs be connected to the controller IC if External Video mode is being utilized.

    Best,

    Aaron
