About [Frame Rate] which is used in [Lightcommander Control Software]

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC200

Hi.

I am confused about [Frame rate] which is used in [Lightcommander Control Software].
So please tell me about detail about that.

I thought that [Frame Rate] is used for changing the frequency for each pattern's changing timing.
But when I changed the [Frame Rate],transfer them to board, play and steps through the patterns to use Software SW(8bit Gray scale)
,I feel the each pixel's frequencies are also changed, too.

Each pixel's Frequency is meaning clock of the each mirror's control(using for expressing 255 gray scale.).

Is that correct?

If so,[ Pattern's changing timing] = [Auto Trigger Generator]'s trigger timing =  [Frame Rate].

Is that correct?

I will change each pattern  by 68Hz(to use 1.8V ext ).
And I wanna see each image(pattern) clearly(That means that I want to use by high clock(as possible as I can use) of the each mirror's control

Is that possible? And is  that  clock= [Frame Rate]=up to 700Hz?

And I can not use that  change each pattern  by 68Hz and  clock of the each mirror's control by 700Hz in [Auto Trigger Generator] mode, can you?

  • Hi Takahashi,

Yes, you are correct about the first part i.e., [Pattern's changing timing] = [Auto Trigger Generator's timing] = [Frame Rate]

On the second part if i understood correctly as mentioned in your exmple - You have created a configuration in the system to refresh the 8bit grayscale images at 68Hz and now you want to run the system with external hardware trigger at 700Hz.

The answer is "No". For the external hardware trigger to work the trigger timing should always be more than or equal to the frame rate that is set in the Frame Rate section.

Let me know if I answered you question.

  • Hi.

    Thank you for your reply.

    Sorry for my bad English...

I want to use external hardware trigger at 68Hz.
And The Clock using for expressing 255 gray scale at 700Hz([Frame Rate]?)

Is that possible? And is  that  clock= [Frame Rate]=up to 700Hz?

And I can not use that  change each pattern  at 68Hz and  clock of the each mirror's control at 700Hz in [Auto Trigger Generator] mode, can you?

  • Hi,

    It will work.

In this configuration since the hardware trigger interval is going to be 1/68th of Second and your 8bit grayscale pattern display rate is 1/700 th of Second you will see the dark time (no patterns displayed) for the remaining (1/60 - 1/700) period of time.

  • Hi,Sanjeev.

You said as following in another forum.

    *************************************
255- gradation can be well expressed at 6Hz. The point I wanted to highlight was about the correspondence between FrameRate selection and H/W trigger should closely be related.
You should be able easily refresh 8bit grayscale image at 6Hz with 255-gradation.
    Set FramRate = 6Hz
Set CameraExposure Time = 166660 uSec
    Frame Trigger = External H/W 3.3 or 1.8 Volt.
So every h/w trigger 1 8bit grey scale pattern is displayed.
    **************************************

    So,I confirmed these set up.
But I could not get any result that I need.

    And Can it check there?

    [Set Up]
    ・I used 4 patterns (255-gradation monocrome Fringe)
・I set [Frame Rate] at 68Hz  in software.
    ・I sent 3.3V pulse by using a hardware trigger(SYNC IN0) at 68Hz by using Pulse-generator・
・[Frametrigger(VSYNC)]  set  [3.3V Ext] in software.
    ・[Structured Light] mode
    ・Use LED by 50% White(Blue Red Green).
    ・Bits Per Pixel 8 mode.

In this situation,I need  255-gradation image even when I stop the hardware trigger.
But the Image was only  Black and White(Just monochrome ).

    And I want to know.

    1・I am using Lightcommandar(Logic).So I'm using DLPC200.
If I use DLPC200,Do [Patterns Changing time ] and [Frequency as which a mirror expresses 255 gradation] become the certainly same frequency?

2・If I use D4100 developer Kit(DLI)(That is using FPGA),can I control the frequency of  [Patterns Changing time ] and [Frequency as which a mirror expresses 255 gradation]  by different frequency.

  • Hi Takahashi,

Thanks for the detailed info. I could able to reproduce the problem you are seeing.

Please allow sometime to respond to you more on this. In the meantime you could use auto-trigger and single step procedure to serve your purpose.
