DLPC900: Bugs with the DMD interface

Part Number: DLPC900
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP5500, DLPLCRC900DEVM, DLPLCRC900EVM, DLP500YX, DLP670S, DLP9000

Tool/software:

Hi !

I'm encountering an issue with my DMD device and the software that was made to use it. I followed the installation guide provided online and I connected the DMD correctly (all the lights go green) and the software detects the DMD as expected. But as soon as I am trying to get on the "pattern on the fly mode" in the operating menu -in order to follow the rest of the instructions-, the check just goes back on the first-selected mode as if it was impossible to select the "pattern on the fly mode". Do you have a solution to fix this issue ?
Thanks,
Eloi

  • Hello Eloi,

Could you provide the following information so that we can better help you with this issue:

    • Which DMD are you using?
    • What version of the GUI are you using?
    • What Firmware version of are you using?
    • Have you tried a different USB cable?

The easiest way to confirm the GUI / FW is with the system running and connected via USB please take a screenshot of the main GUI page and post it here.

  • Hi !

    We are using :

    - DLPC900,

    - 5.3.0 version for the GUI.

    - DLPR900PROM, 6.3.0 version

    - We did tried to use a different USB cable.

Just in case, I will take a screenshot as soon as I can, probably on Wednesday.

  • Hello Eloi,

Thank you for the reply.  Please do send a screenshot of the GUI when you have a chance.  Please check to see if the Controller/DMD incompatible box is checked.  Also does it show "Connected" but is in Standby mode.

Also "DLPC900" is the controller.  I am looking for the Chipset Type shown on the main GUI page.  The DLPC900 controller can support the DLP6500  or the DLP5500 DMD with the single controller EVM [DLPLCRC900EVM] and can support a DLP670S, a DLP500YX, or a DLP9000 DMD with the dual controller EVM [DLPLCRC900DEVM].

  • Hello !
Here is the screenshot. I Believe you would get all the informations you asked for. As soon as we are selecting the "normal" mode, the check is going back on the "standby" mode.

Thanks again for trying to help us !

  • Hello Eloi,

I notice that your firmware is 6.0.0.  If you disconnect the USB and power up the EVM, do patterns automatically display on the DMD?

If not then there is an issue.  I suggest getting a USB to UART FTDI cable and connecting to a terminal program like TerraTerm or similar.  This will let you see what the debug stream coming out of the primary controller is seeing.  Refer to the Dual DLPC900 EVM Users Guide [DLPU102C].

I would also suggest going ahead updating the FW to 6.3.0.

Since you have GUI 5.3.0 you can use the new debug functions detailed in the Dual DLPC900 EVM Users Guide [DLPU102C].
