hello. I have a questions DLP4710LC.

1. From this link, the maximum number of patterns for DLP4710LC is confirmed to be 8ea Vertical and 7ea Horizon.
If I use the DLP4710LC + DLP3478 combination, can I use 8 horizontal images?

but in the DLP Programming guide DLPC3479 Software Programmer's Guide (Rev. B)

2. Is there a way to set up 8 horizontal patterns on the DLP4710LC?

Think you.

  • Hi Kim,

I've assigned this ticket to someone who is more familiar with this EVM. Please expect a reply within the next couple of business days. Thanks!

  • Hello Kim,

Thank you for reaching out to us through E2E!

I'm somewhat confused by this question and hopefully I can get some clarity what's happening here.

A preface to my answers are as follows:

    • The DLP4710LC DMD is constrained by it's chipset family and is grouped with either the DLPA3000 or DLPA3005 PMIC as well as dual DLPC3479 controllers
    • The DLP3010LC DMD is constrained by it's chipset family and is grouped with either the DLPA2000, DLPA2005, DLPA3000 or DLPA3005 PMIC as well as a SINGLE DLPC3478 controller

    • The DLPC3478 cannot support the DLP4710LC DMD

    1. I think you are referring to Table 3-82 and Table 3-83 which are not accurate. As you've stated, the FAQ has the correct maximum number of patterns for 8-bit and 1-bit vertical and horizontal pattern sets. Additionally, the DLPC3479 doesn't support any other bit depth than 1-bit and 8-bit, unlike the DLPC3478 controller, which does.

    2. If you need 8x horizontal patterns of any bit amount on the DLP4710LC, you will need to go to 8x 1-bit patterns. Alternatively, you may decide to reduce to 7x 8-bit patterns because only 7x patterns are supported with 8-bit horizontal patterns. The memory simply doesn't support more than 7x 8-bit patterns. We should notice that DLP4710LC (1920x1080) has more pixels than the DLP3010LC (1280x720).

    Best,

    Aaron
