DLPC2607: SPI Routing suggestions

Part Number: DLPC2607
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA1000

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

I am using the DLPC2607 IC in my project, and as per the recommendations, a star topology is suggested for SPI signal connections between the DLPA1000 and the SPI Flash.

However, I typically practiced a daisy chain configuration for SPI signals in my current organization. Could you please clarify what impact it might have if I use a daisy chain approach for the SPI CLK, MISO, and MOSI lines instead of the recommended star topology?

Looking forward to your guidance.

Best Regards,
Poovarasan S

  • Hello,

Please allow us some time to look into this and get back to you.

  • Sequential (Daisy Chain) topologies can have reflections that cause issues with devices in the middle of the net. We recommend a star topology but it is possible your implementation may not require one. This is a decision the designer needs to make based on the specific situation. For instance if the DLPA1000 and Flash are very close together and close to the DLPC2607 a sequential topology might be fine. But, that is the designers responsibility to determine.
