DLPLCR70EVM: Trouble in loading grayscale images to the DMD with the controller DLPLCRC410EVM

Part Number: DLPLCR70EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC410

Tool/software:

Hello,

I recently purchased the DLP7000DMD along with the DLPCRC410 evaluation board. However, I am having trouble displaying grayscale images on the DMD. I tried displaying the image [attached ], and it does not show correctly on the DMD. I selected load and global to add comments to the script page and run the commands in the Discovery 4100 Explorer.  Can anyone suggest to me, how to display the attached image correctly on the DMD? The image is an 8-bit greyscale image.

Thank you in advance and any help on this matter is very much appreciated.

  • Hello Melvin,

The DLPC410 is a binary only controller, but is very fast.

WIth the default GUI it is not possible to display 8-bit grayscale patterns at speeds that you are likely wanting.  This EVM is truly a development platform.

Typically you would use a SODIMM memory stick and instantiate a memory controller and write VHDL or Verilog code to run in the APPS FPGA that is on board the controller EVM.

I often recommend a board from ViALUX as a starting point since they have all of this functionality in their boards.  The benefit is that it is a turnkey system, but the downside is that it is not an open architecture if you want to do it yourself.
