DLP4710EVM-LC: half of the projection broken while using external patterns mode

Part Number: DLP4710EVM-LC

Tool/software:

I connected the EVM to my computer with HDMI and set it as second monitor. Then I got the correct projection while using External Video mode as above.

But when I switched to External Patterns mode to achieve 180Hz and 1440Hz, half of the projection was broken.

As the image shows, half of the projection was not displaying properly and was stuck and would not move. The other half was a normal monochrome dynamic display.

  • Hello Weike Qian,

The image seems fine to me. I will say that the Patterns per Frame is definitely wrong. It should not be higher than 3 as that is the maximum. Based on the timing you've set the frame rate is correct.

Please share the settings you have utilized or anticipate to utilize for 180Hz and 1440Hz? Please keep in mind that 180Hz is maximum for 8-bit and 1440Hz is maximum for 1-bit settings.

    Best,

    Aaron

  • Hello Aaron Black,

Thanks for your reply, but I think it's a bug that causes the strange settings in the screenshots.

I will attach the settings as follows.

As the image shows, I've selected bit depth of 8 and 3 patterns per frame for 180 Hz and bit depth 1 and 24 patterns per frame for 1440 Hz. I also set 350, 5000, 206 microsec for 180 Hz or 193, 451, 50 microsec for 1440 Hz.

In addition, I redid several experiments at 180 Hz to get other projections where the errors were more obvious.

    Best,

    Weike

  • Hello Weike,

Please share an image of the 'Information' tab after you perform a 'Get'. I'd like to confirm we're all up-to-date with everything.

    Thank you!
