DLPDLCR471TPEVM: How to use without integrated RGB LED module?

Tool/software:

Would like to use this DLP engine with 532nm or 660nm laser light and input a controllable sequence of 2D monochrome images. Does TI offer this module with everything except the RGB LED module? Any guidance greatly appreciated. Ready to buy now if this is straightforward.

    Welcome to the E2E forums and thank you for your interest in DLP ® technology. We hope to assist you with your questions.

    Unfortunately the DLPDLCR471TPEVM comes as a complete package that will always include the RGB LED module and we do not sell the EVM without the RGB LED module.

    You are free to modify or disassemble the EVM to better fit your application.

    After some further discussion with the team we believe for your application a DLP EVM with light control capabilities may be better suited for your application to better control the sequence and content you are trying to display. The software and features on this DLPDLCR471TPEVM does not support light control applications.

    Hello Joseph,

    Unfortunately the EVMs you're looking at and we've mentioned don't just come with what I refer to as 'electronics only' which only includes the controller and DMD EVMs and excludes the light engine boards. There is the DLPLCRC900DEVM and DLPLCRC900EVM that can be purchased but this is the controller board ONLY and you must purchase a DMD EVM accordingly to desired requirements.

    Alex has recommended a perfectly fine solution to present 2D monochrome images. There is also the DLP3010EVM-LC which is the same as the DLP4710EVM-LC as Alex recommended but utilizes 720p resolution instead of 1080p.

    I thought I had already replied to this but I don’t see it here. I’m not interested in less than 4K capability. Is there any route to this DMD capability? I already have good 1920x1080 2D projection capability using a HoloEye 6001 LCoS SLM. A 4K DLP/DMD capability is what I seek. Can you suggest a way to this?

    Hello Joseph,

    It wasn't asked before but are you trying to stream a 4K image onto the DMD or are you wanting to store the sequence of 4K patterns and display it from there?

    For the module without a light engine, there is a better option here but it may require you to reach out to some of our 3rd party Module (EVM) providers. Since we don't always have EVMs or service them in the way you are wanting, we have 3rd party companies that offer this regularly.

    Here is the link to the DLP-OMM-SEARCH. Here you can find the 3rd party vendors who provide Evaluation Modules. I would recommend you reach out to EKB on top of the sources found doing 4K Display resolution with Light Control solutions.

    Again, my team and I are fairly confident that EKB can work with you to order an 'electronics only' solution but you should try the other options there.
