We, at Safran Electronics & Defense (France), are interested in incorporating your DLP modules (near-infrared products > 700 nm) into our products. To proceed, we would appreciate further information on the key operational aspects of the DLP products. Specifically, we plan to use your modules in a vibration-prone environment and would like to understand how the DLP behaves with varying vibration amplitudes (e.g., from 10 Hz to 2000 Hz). In particular, is there a specific vibration threshold at which the DLP may enter a failure or dangerous mode?

Hello Khmaies,

The resonant frequency of the DMD mirrors is much higher than 2kHz. The DMD is unaffected by vibrations in the range that you are inquiring about.

Hello Fizix,

I have two more questions, please:
In our product, we only need to control a small portion of the matrix of your DMD module (for example, 100×100 pixels). Is this currently possible?
If so, would this allow us to reduce the micromirror switching time?

Hello again Khmales,

I will consult with the previous engineer on this platform. I do not believe that this Contoller/DMD combo allows that, but let me see if maybe it can.

The lowest resonant frequency for DMD pixels is about the tilt axis. For the pixel in the DLP4500 series it is up in the 400kHz range.

I am still waiting on whether this DMD/Controller combination can do subsets of the array.

Hello again Khmales,

Although in video mode you can restrict the projection area, it still loads the entire array buffer, just loads zeros for the blank areas.

This chipset does not support loading only certaing blocks. The entire array's worth of data needs to be loaded each time.
