DLP3010EVM-LC: Splash Image Viewing

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP3010,

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am working on a lithography prototype using the DLP3010 EVM and would appreciate some help troubleshooting an issue I am experiencing

I have designed an optical module that extends the projection path to a 10x objective lens with a camera included for alignment purposes The goal is to project an image through this objective module aligned along the original light path from where the projector lens was originally placed though extended slightly to fit the setup

I have updated the DLP firmware to version 9.1 using the GUI However when I attempt to run a splash screen no image appears to be projected from the DMD even when I remove the optical module and view the output directly from the DMD

According to the user guide the splash screen feature should work by default but I am not seeing any output Is there a configuration step or setting I might be missing that would prevent the DMD from displaying an image

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

  • Hello Travis,

Could you please go through the DLP3010EVM-LC User's Guide steps of section 6. Quick-start Procedure and ensure that you are flipping in switch on the EVM?

If this persists, please send a video or a photo of the operation of the board.

    Best,

    Aaron

  • Yes, I have followed all the steps the projector LEDs do come on. However when trying to display a splash image nothing appears.

I am trying to upload a video but its having issues, is there a best way/format to upload it?

I have followed the user guide per each step and updated the firmware as stated. When I try to pass a splash image through from the GUI I can see the light adjusted but no image appears.

  • Hello Travis,

Could you advise which mode you are using again? There are 'Display' splash patterns and 'Light Control' splash patterns.

I assume you are using 'Display' splash patterns, in which case you can try the 4 built-in images but they could be different than what is stored in flash.

You should firstly try and flash to the latest version of DLP3010EVM-LC firmware available in the Firmware Selector tool this is Firmware version 9.2.0.

Please note that you should select your Pin Mapping option and PMIC you've selected.

I can only check out the EVM/default options but you should reflash the system using 'Firmware -> Flash Firmware'.

    Best,

    Aaron

  • I am using Display mode; the end goal is to use Light Control mode as its more specific to my needs. I will upload a video and show you, I have updated to the most recent firmware version with the correct PMIC.

However, I asked is there a specific way to upload videos?

when I click insert image/video it brings me to a sub-screen where it won't allow me to select a file?

  • Hello Travis,

If you have a video and know where it is you should be able to just drag-and-drop the video in.

To answer your question, the Light Control version of splash won't be working by default. It defaults to the display application.

You will need to perform the below writes:

I would read through the DLPC3478 Software Programmer's Guide section 3.1.9 in depth as this describes how splash screens are working.

    Best,

    Aaron
