DLPC4430EVM: PC unable to recognise HDMI connection when using IT6802E front end board

Hi,

I am using the DLPC4430EVM evaluation module in conjunction with a DLP650LE and IT6802E front end board. I have PC connected to DLPC4430EVM via USB and connected to IT6802E via HDMI. I have went through programming procedure in 2.2.3 of the DLPC4430EVM User Guide and can display SPLASH/TESTPATTERN etc.

I wish to display custom images via HDMI (connected to front end board). My main problem is the fact that my PC does not recognise the HDMI connection. Questions are:

1. Is it possible to display custom images through IT6802E front end board connected to DLPC4430EVM and DLP650LEEVM?

2. If so, how do I get my PC to recognise HDMI connection?

3. Where on the DLPC44XX GUI are there features concerning the front end device/custom images?

    Hello James, 

    Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology.

    You are able to use HDMI to display external source. 

    Please try the following items to see if that works for you:

    1. Change the front end IT6802 board from J2 to J1 connector

    2.Does your computer graphics have a driver update that can be done?

    3. Also, please check the Display settings in your computer and make it to multiple displays.

    I have done those three things and my computer still does not recognise HDMI connection.

    Hello James,

    I would like to check that you mentioned the splash and test pattern modes are working correct? Only the external source with the front end board does not work. 

    You may need to reprogram the EDID file by following the EDID programming guide in the SW download folder. This will need a Devasys USB-12CIO board which is EOL, do you have a Devasys board by a chance?

    Hi Lori,

    You are correct. I can display splash and test pattern using DLPC44XX GUI. External HDMI source with front end board does not work. I have noticed that no pattern can be displayed if the front-end board is not connected to the DLPC4430EVM evaluation module, but that is besides the point.

    I have read the EDID programming guide. I do not have a Devasys board. Is it really necessary to purchase a Devasys USB-I2CIO board? i.e. is it not possible to program the front end board using the DLPC4430EVM evaluation module?

    Is it possible to display custom images on the DMD some other way perhaps?

    Hi James, 

    There might be an issue of the EDID with the front end board. The current method we have is using Devasys board to programming, however the Devasys is end of life. If you don't have Devasys board, then you will need to send us your board and we can help programming the EDID with proper binary file.
