DLPC900REF-SW: Laptop does not connect to the SFW on multiple DLPs but other Laptops connect just fine

Part Number: DLPC900REF-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP6500FLQ, DLPC900

Tool/software:

My lab has a few Windows 11 Laptops and DLPs, and I can connect to all the DLPs with all the Laptops except one. This laptop is used for operating a DLP6500FLQ and was working fine until a couple of weeks ago, when it just stopped connecting. I have tried redownloading the SFW and drivers, keeping the DLP in bootloader mode, and running the program in Administrator mode, but none of these has made any difference. The device does show up in Device Manager.

  • Hello Ammar,

Please tell us which FW version and GUI version you are using.  This sounds like the Flash image has become corrupted.  Depending on version the instructions are slightly different.

  • GUI Version: 5.3
    FW Version: 5.0.1
    FW Tag: DLPR900PROM-6500-v5.0-OOB

  • Hello again Ammar,

Before you get too far.  GUI 5.3 is not compatible with FW 5.0.1.  You will either need to upgrade the FW to 6.3 or load an earlier GUI.  I think 4.0 for FW 5.0.x.  Please find DLPR900PROM_6.3.

  • Hey Fizix,

I'll update the FW, but the FW version was acquired using a laptop that was working with DLP, so I am not sure what you mean by them not being compatible.

    Ammar

  • Hello Ammar,

What I mean is that GUI 5.3 only supports FW6.3  FW 5.0.x requires GUI 4.0.x

Please look on TI.com for the lates version of the FW.

Go to this page:  https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPR900 and scroll down to DLPR900PROM — DLPC900 Configuration and Support Firmware.

    Then follow the link:  https://dr-download.ti.com/secure/software-development/firmware/MD-PxxKFHetoA/6.3/DLPR900PROM-6.3.0-windows-installer.exe  Which is labeled as - DLPR900PROM-6.3.0-windows-installer.exe  — 8112 K

  • Hey Fizix,

I have updated my firmware to 6.3.0 with a complete image download, without skipping the bootloader. I still have the same issue. Another issue that could be related is that the Description under 'Events' for the Device in Device Manager says 'Device settings not migrated,' even after deleting and reinstalling the drivers.

  • Hello again Ammar,

In this case, please un-install the device driver for the DLPC900 and the GUI software completely.  Even delete the GUI directory under C:\Texas Instruments-DLP (if your system drive is C).  On my machine it is:  C:\Texas Instruments-DLP\DLPC900REF-SW-5.3.0

Then reinstall.  If it gives you an error then try clearing it again and install MicroSoft's vcredist2010.  Also check to see if your other WIn11 systems are at the same version (i.e. 25H1).
