DLPLCRC410EVM: Input power of the DLPLCRC410EVM

Part Number: DLPLCRC410EVM

Tool/software:

The User's Guide for the DLPLCRC410EVM states that a maximum of 30W can be input from J12 and J18 at 5V. If I use a 5V 6.2A AC adapter that provides 31W and input this through J12, will the device still operate? Will it cause any damage?

  • Hello Hori-san,

I think there is a misunderstanding here.  What is important is the voltage (5V).  The amperage is what the adapter can supply if the load pulls that much.  The EVM will only draw the amount of current it needs.

The DLPLCRC410EVM draws less than 4A during normal operation, but during initialization it can pull a little over 5A.  That is why a minimum of 6A is recommended.
