Hello Team,

I am Working on Project to build Precision 3D Scanner which provides 3D Point Cloud to PC over USB/ETH.

The Scan Object is Reflective and Mostly at Fixed Distance , Static.
Object Size would be From 1mm x 1mm x 1mm to 20mm x 30mm x 20mm.

It would be Laser Source based Scanning. Possibly Blue.

Can you suggest Better EVM to Try out this application ( i.e Video lesson) ?
Any Third Party suggestion who have done using TI`s DLP would be of Great help....

The videos we have are more basic, but they are located within the Precision labs series: DLP Labs - Light Control page.

If you know you are looking in the visible light range already, I'd search through the product page for specifically controller type devices in this range - something like this page.

If you'd like to see Third-party companies that work with these controllers, we have tools with this information released under this OMM-Search Tool.

Hello Aaron,

Thank you for Update.

We already connected many vendor and in Communication through TI`s OMM-Search tool.

Since, we want to evaluate First with EVM , But not sure which EVM would be best suit for this application.

We are just targeting Precise 3D scanning of Small size reflected Object Only.

Any other better EVM than DLPLCR4500EVM suited to our application , Considering laser Light Source ?

I don't have an idea for your budget for this project but I would get in touch with EKB Technologies who can work with you to customize for your application.

I would consider utilizing a DLP3010EVM-LC / DLP4710EVM-LC as well as the DLPLCR4500EVM. If budget was no issue, you could consider reaching out to Digital Light Innovations as well VISITECH.

yes , Application is Little cost Sensitive as we are planning for Mass-Production.

DLP3010EVM and DLPLCR4500EVM seems on RGB Led , Can we change it to Laser ?

Can you suggest any application Note which describes 3D Scanning using laser source ?

Our Target is to create DLP based 3D Scanner sensor for short Scan range (~100mm) and Small Gloss Objects.

We have sent Email to EKB team and will Await their response....

Hello Bhupendra,

I apologize, we don't have a specific Application Note that describes only working with 3D scanning. Fundamentally, a laser source is still going to be a visible light and utilize patterns for 3D Scanning, therefore the function is not going to be different than with LED. A laser phosphorus color wheel will also function about the same, but might be limited due to the wheel spin rates - solid state illumination is more optimal.

Yes , Agree. During research people uses Blue laser for Glossy/Shining object because it short wavelength benefits in case of reflection on short scan distance.

We are still awaiting response from EKB people , Can you suggest any specific contact to push the process ?

Hello Aron,

Thank you for Continue support.

We received Email from EKB and Conversation Started.

Since Size / Space is Constrain , Out target is to create Sensor Module ( Not using Off-the-shelf Camera ) with integrated CMOS chip to replace camera.

It is like below Image , Keyence ( LJ-S025) and Micro-Epsilon has such 3D scan sensor Module. We are not sure if it is possible with EVM Module with EKB.

Hello Bhupendra,

I would discuss this with EKB. Nearly every EVM is going to be limited by how it is built.

I believe the DLPLCR4500EVM would be a good way to get started if you want to work with LEDs.

I agree with my colleague that if you plan to use laser, EKB offers options that make more sense.
